  • Great lesson btw I'm feeling a little guilty here I keep coming to your site and getting all of these songs but I never give back do you accept donations or just a great big THANKS

  • @spankystrat49 lol I do have a link to donations on my channel. Thanks! :o)

  • great lesson. Thanks!

  • @pforce1 You're so welcome! Thanks! :o)

  • I have been looking at lots of videos lately to get the intro to this song. Many have graciously put in time to show their work. I think you have not only captured the song the best, but your explanation is so simple, complete, and straightforward that you also have the best lesson. Thanks a lot.

  • @rgonnering So glad to help! Thanks for the very kind comment! :o)

  • @Sawlon hello, I must say your a great teacher. my guitar teachers were always pimma donna's so I never bothered with them. you I can learn from....your personality isn't in the way. I learned this song in moments after watching and listening to you. I'm largely self taught after 46 years of playing but I'm able to learn from others too if they dont get on my nerves. you dont.

  • @TheBabyboomkidof53 So glad to have helped! Thanks!

  • hello there! great work! but I think that there is a mistake in the tab that you posted at the beginning of the video...its after the second hammer-on from fret 9 to 11 on the G chord: after you play the hammer-on, you play fret 9 on the D and G chord together, while on the tab it says to play fret 11 again (on the G chord), which I think is wrong. I don't know if what I just wrote is very clear :)

anyway the way you play it is perfect, and it helped me to learn it! thanks

  • @cimattikaiman Oops, you're right! Thanks! :o)

  • What a great guitar player and teacher - Thanks for the lesson! I knew the strumming version- after watching this, its back to the drawing board! Thanks again!

  • @MrRoneill You're so welcome! Thanks! :o)

    Dave

  • We sing this song at church - The Band I sing with sometimes...I get the Carmen verse! :-) - - I love this song...

  • how can i capture those tabs off the video

  • @jjpdolan If you are not in windows 7 its easy, just creat a new shortcut on your desktop enter %windir%\System32\clipbrd.exe as the location then click next and name it. this shortcut will open the clipboard viewer, but in win7 they removed it, you need a third party program to do it. From my friend DrOrphious!

  • great lesson dude u are an inspiration an u do the A chord different to the way i learned it. i normailly use three fingers am i wrong to do that

  • @ADILPROUD Neither is wrong. I use two because they fit in there better.

    Thanks for asking!

  • @Sawlon Anybody who can comfortably fit 3 fingers into a first position A chord should immediately visit their Doctor...as they obviously have "Ladyhandinnitus"...Ha ha!!!

    (Fantastic lesson as always Dave!)

  • @lukessummerguitar lol!

    Thanks buddy!

  • Real nice job, I enjoyed this very much thank you my friend.

    gtrjoe

  • @gtrjoeles You're so welcome!

    Thanks!

  • Hey - those were the days, man! Easy Rider and The Last Waltz are two of my favourite movies. I've heard Robbie described - affectionately - as a freak guitarist . If playing the right notes and only the right notes at the right time is being a freak - bag it up.I'll take some! Hope your guitar didn't get the flu.

  • @zthetha lol!

    Thanks!

  • Great video once again!! love it.

What kind of capo is that by the way? I've been trying to find one for my Yamaha G255S classical for a while now and haven't found one like yet.

  • @MildonLanhorn I use a Shubb classical capo.

    Thanks!

  • Great job Dave, that's always been one of my favorite Band tunes also, another one being "I Shall Be Released", penned by Mr. Zimmerman of course. Anyway Thanks for sharing this, everyone should have this one in their songbook. -Derek

  • @skatetrue19 I hear ya Derek!

    Thanks buddy!

  • i know i already posted a reply but do you think you could pherhaps do this song in it's entirity, no lesson just playing? it's beautiful.

  • @DennChooch I would if I could sing! lol

  • @Sawlon even without singing it'd be amazing

  • excellent

  • Dude, now that's dedication to your craft, sitting in the rain, teaching a song. I'll grab my guitar and chair, and meet you out back. LOL

And I just started catching on to barre chords, someone told me they'd be handy someday. That was great seeing the different keys.

So get back to Miss Fanny. You know she's the only one

Who sent me here with her regards for everyone.

    Great song, thanks!

  • @dschenk952 Thanks Don! Stop by if you ever get to Michigan! We can do some pickin'.

  • I say who will stop the rain? No one. And no one will stop Sawlon!

Beautifull Brovo. I love your style. Truley a love for music and teaching! I am glad to have stumbled upon your melodies. Captbadhand

    Thanks!

  • another great vid! i love your work, its really inspiring. how long have you been playing guitar for now?

  • @elliotlawton Thanks! A very long time! Over 40 years ... yikes!

  • @Sawlon il never be as good as you in 80 years! haha

  • As usual, good lesson. But....you spend so much time showing us techniques and such (which I truly appreciate), how about a video with you just playing what you want to play and let us enjoy your mastery of the guitar! You've done it a couple times through riff videos and stuff, but just cut loose and put out a "Sawlon plays what he wants" video!

  • @324bs Thanks!

  • beautiful song, thanks so much

  • @wolf69a Thanks buddy!

  • Bravo Dave...good to see a proper lesson on this classic song finally up youtube; it's been long overdue!

  • @lukessummerguitar Thanks Lee! I think we are doing it the same or close. Will you be posting yours soon?

    Dave

  • first !! hehe, love that guitar and playing man!

would like to just hear you play a full song of this kinda thing ! very melodic....
