If you make 1 album in a decade like Ismail, you have lot of time to be original. He made couple of good albums, but for his bad attitude, none employs him. Pritam made more original songs than those he adapted from others' music. There is nothing wrong in adapting others' music as long as you take the permission & pay the royalty. Often his adaptation is better than the original. It is producer's job to pay that royalty. What about chastising Anu Malik & many others who copied blindly?

Actually, Himesh Ji did have a case earlier because he had coppied Soniay je Tere Nal from Kalwinder Kali Ji. Kalwinder had sued him for stealing his song, and not giving credit to the original singer or lyricist.

Pritam is a music director, not a DJ. His job is to compose original music, not remix/remake other songs and release them as his own. So it's not right to say that he's entertaining us and so, it's okay to steal unknown songs.If that's what he wants to do, then fine, he should proudly say that he's sampling music, he should take permission from the original artists, and release them as a DJ. He shouldn't make money by copying songs and releasing them as his own, that's wrong.

If you make 1 album in a decade like Ismail, you have lot of time to be original. He made couple of good albums, but for his bad attitude, none employs him. Pritam made more original songs than those he adapted from others' music. There is nothing wrong in adapting others' music as long as you take the permission & pay the royalty. Often his adaptation is better than the original. It is producer's job to pay that royalty. What about chastising Anu Malik & many others who copied blindly?

Pritam has been my classmate. I know him for more than 18 years. Ismail is right in calling him chor. He thieved music at the age of 18 for his first album in Calcutta. And he continues to do so for the last 18 years. He is just a thief, a chor, a daaku, any name you can think of.

Actually, Himesh Ji did have a case earlier because he had coppied Soniay je Tere Nal from Kalwinder Kali Ji. Kalwinder had sued him for stealing his song, and not giving credit to the original singer or lyricist.

It's not wrong for a music composer to occasionally sample songs that he/she credits the original composer for, but it is wrong to blatantly copy and release a song as his/her creative product and make money off it - he is deceiving people about his composing abilities and deceiving the original composer out of royalty payments. Pritam is a music director, not a DJ. His job is to compose original music, not remix/remake other songs and release them as his own. So it's not right to say that he's entertaining us and so, it's okay to steal unknown songs.If that's what he wants to do, then fine, he should proudly say that he's sampling music, he should take permission from the original artists, and release them as a DJ. He shouldn't make money by copying songs and releasing them as his own, that's wrong.
