@l2XMetalX2l How can you say that?! You don't feel the anger in Head Crusher? And the Hardest Part of Letting Go's solos? Those have lots of feeling to them. Not to mention the main Public Enemy No. 1 Solo is one of his most memorable solos yet. And don't get me wrong, when it comes to feeling, marty friedman's solos are bar none the BEST that Megadeth's ever had. But Broderick is extremely emotional when he plays.
@paneercfc Chris DOES use some pretty exotic scales. As does Marty. You'll hear a lot of gypsy like licks in most of Broderick's solos that he adds in for flavor, but when he plays them as fast as he does, you really have to listen for them. Unlike Marty, where almost his entire solo is based in an exotic scale, and sounds beautiful from start to finish. Both Broderick and Marty make almost any Metal guitarist look like a child learning to play for the first time.
@l2XMetalX2l Broderick hasnt been the only guitar player in Megadeth. I'm guessing you know that but i'm just saying. Broderick and Drover are the two guitarists that have that real robotic style.
@337camo Poland was great, but he didn't stand out for me as much as Friedman did, nor as much as Broderick is now. I got into Megadeth when Friedman was still in the band. When Poland came back for System, I was stunned! But his solos were few and far between on that album, and lacking what the Peace Sells era brought. Poland is Megadeth's 4th best guitarist, IMO, next to Mustaine (3rd), Friedman (2nd), and Broderick (1st).
@337camo I was just listing them in terms of skill levels, that's how the ranking would go. Which ones I like BEST in Megadeth differs from how I ranked them there as well. Personally, as much as I LOVE Chris Broderick and praise his skill level, I love Marty's style a little better. Everything he plays is just incredible from start to finish. However, no denying, Chris is definitely better than Marty, who's better than Mustaine, who is slightly better than Poland.
@337camo Drover is pretty garbage... he's easily the worst guitar player in Megadeth's history. Even though he's still a technical and clean player, he lacks a lot of skill like sweeping (he can't sweep for shit...), tapping (does he even EVER tap?!), and top-to-bottom fret board tremolo picking. He abuses Tremolo picking in his solos, and it makes them all sound similar. None really stand out. Whereas for Broderick, all his solos are difficult, technical, and very different.
@MrHoopla I can't really get all technical about Drover because i dont know him or guitar well like that. i like what he plays though...his metalusion stuff is cool and melodic too.

Other than the Broderick writing crappy solos part.. that's just not true at all, he can play circles around both Poland AND Friedman when it comes to technique, speed, and cleanliness. Personally, Poland didn't really stand out too much for me. Friedman was what helped make Megadeth as great as they are, with the amount of emotion going into his incredible solos. And Mustaine is a metal god, plain and simple.
@l2XMetalX2l Most of his solos, granted, are mainly about speed, as well as the "awe" when everyone witnesses him play that happens. He is amazing to watch, and even better to listen to when he's playing his classical styled guitar. He's written some amazing jazz tunes, classical tunes, and bluesy tunes. He's very versatile. Check his stuff out on here. But in terms of Megadeth solos, you're right, only about half of the solos he's written have true, utter feeling to them.

Broderick is a guitar master when it comes to knowledge and technique, but when he has to write a solo is when you realize that he has no feeling at all. @MrHoopla to set an example, in Comfortably Numb, Gilmour plays most of the solo in a simple pentatonic on the 7th fret. He goes over the same notes for more than a minute, and yet he can create and awesome solo full of feeling. Broderick might use 8 different scales and types of shredding and Tapping on the same 20 second solo and yet it would never be as good as comfortably numb is. Broderick has a lot of knowledge and technique, but no feeling.

He's one of the most respected guitarists on this planet, and you are right, he doesn't even need to use practically any notes to show how good he is. You can practically feel the emotion when he plays. That being said, I definitely disagree that Broderick has NO feeling at all. He has TONS of feeling. It's mainly just anger. Eh. Mick is all technicality and high speed alt picking. It sounds cool, but Jim has a feel to his playing that's non existent in Mick's. I also think Jim's work in Stone Sour is much more interesting than in Slipknot. But, even his work in Slipknot is much more satisfying than Mick's, in my opinion.
i know mick is the most bad ass looking one and he always gets the most attention BUT he is not the lead guitarist. he is rythm there for he doesnt play most of these solos so you should have put up more jim photos but mick is an insane rythm player
@FDTA94 I prefer Jim, this video has an equitative amount of pictures of both of them. When I edited the pictures I wasn´t really counting who was playing each solo. I just choose some images that fit well with the music
@FDTA94 mick is the lead guitarist, and plays about half the solos here, in most songs with their solos mick plays the 1st solo and then jim comes back with another legato style solo like how he does in welcome, psychosocial, sulfur and gematria etc

Pantera is the most successful Groove Metal band in the world. Megadeth is the most successful Thrash Metal band in the world. And I can go on. All these bands I've listed can be considered "Gods" of Rock. Well, except for Slipknot. They're still a little young.

Yeah, those 4 bands are my CHILDHOOD bands, and they're my top 4 bands of all time in MY mind. Megadeth, then Metallica, then Anthrax, and Slayer would be last. Although as a whole, between Anthrax and Metallica, I like Anthrax better. Metallica is sucking now, as everyone knows. Watch my guitar covers on here, dude. I idolize them.

My favourite two from your selection are Pulse Of The Maggots and All Hope Is Gone, and in my opinion deserve to be in the top 4. I would also have included in the top 4 The Disasterpieces DVD Sid Solo, and The Mate Feed Kill Repeat S/t song Slipknot.

Eh. Mick is all technicality and high speed alt picking. It sounds cool, but Jim has a feel to his playing that's non existent in Mick's. I also think Jim's work in Stone Sour is much more interesting than in Slipknot. But, even his work in Slipknot is much more satisfying than Mick's, in my opinion.

i know mick is the most bad ass looking one and he always gets the most attention BUT he is not the lead guitarist. he is rythm there for he doesnt play most of these solos so you should have put up more jim photos but mick is an insane rythm player

@FDTA94 mick is the lead guitarist, and plays about half the solos here, in most songs with their solos mick plays the 1st solo and then jim comes back with another legato style solo like how he does in welcome, psychosocial, sulfur and gematria etc
