He knows that the listeners are so irritated from how he treated that caller, and he knows that they wouldn't change the channel for the simple reason that they want to hear him get the question wrong or be stumped. So they wait and listen to him ramble and then have to wait for the commercial break to end so they can hear if he's still stumped.
