The best part of the song starts after 2:30. The solo/melodic line is just the best melodies I've ever heard but the sad thing is that U2 always play acoustic version which lacks that part and I'm very disappointed that they cut the best and most emotional part of the song.

yeah, he wrote a book about rock and roll with the same name as this song - I'm pretty sure the lyrics for the song actually come from Rushdie's book -he received credit from U2 for the lyrics anyway
