  • These things are actually only about 13 years old and should technically be late P or early R-reg - they were the last batch delivered to Jersey IIRC.

  • I'm thinking of buying one of these to convert into a camper van, any tips? Also, how much do they weight doe anyone know?

  • i'd love to tell you but i don't know! quite heavy :-)

alot heavier than the low-floor version for sure.

  • this one seems to have an idling problem too :)

  • an early J-reg plaxton pointer - NICE!

  • Yeah, a pretty knackered one at that. Depending on how hard the driver accelerates it hesitates in first gear and then jolts as it slams into second.

  • nearly booming is that.. sounds like its going to just stall at any second

keep the videos up, would love to hear more of these recordings

  • thank you, it means a lot given my camera is really lacking in quality.

yeah, the darts here are definitely very rattly, but i think the noise was created by something loose because it was rattly on the outside too.

  • the noise cant possibly be created by something loose? the engine should never sound chuggy, boomy or shuddery like it does here, its the intense chugging from the engine that makes the bus rattle in the tune that it does, check my videos for somethings similar

the scary thing on this one is that the bus sort of shudders just before it stops, one big shudder like on a car when you stop and you dont press the clutch pedal down and the car shudders

  • well, the sound's the engine mostly but there was a distinct rattling coming from the left of the bus, which is why I kept pointing the camera down there - i could even hear it rattling outside the bus and it looked like a loose panel.

Yeah, these buses have shuddered before they stopped for as long as I can remember, some of our older darts were so bad they'd occasionally stall. Funnily enough, it only shuddered like this when it was in drive.

  • i think the source of booming is the air canistor at the front, maybe if you filmed a bit near the front it would come out louder? to you did the booming (not the rattling) come from the front, middle or back?

  • to me it seemed to come mostly from the back, particularly where i was pointing the camera.

it's hard to tell in the video because the camera quality is low.

  • well, actually, the booming was coming from everywhere.. but the rattling was prominent at the back.

  • on Arriva Midlands' ex London darts especially K542 ORH, that emergency window bar rattles VERY loudly at idle.

  • nice one!!

  • thank you :)
