dell just released a refresh of the studio 15 which now has a 16:9 screen instead of 16:10. it also added ATI mobility HD 4570 option. vishal thats what you got.
i bought the same model studio 15 but i got max resolution of 1336*768 & i didnt had the option for upgrading the resolution but how did u do it...i opted for blu ray does that affect?
That's weird I have never seen this laptop offered with a 1336x768 Resolution. I have only seen it offered with 1280x800, 1440x900, and 1920x1200 resolutions. The Inspiron 15 has a resolution of 1366x768 maybe thats what you ordered. This is the Studio 15.
Dell always has some otehr offers when you phone them and dont choose it over the internet.
I could choose fpr the Studio 1555 in germany the 1920x1080 resolution, which is not listed online. Also i could choose backlight for the keyboard which is also not listed online. You just have to ask the persons at the call center ;)
Thanks! I'm not sure if I'll have the LED model. I did get the 1920x1200 res. It doesn't say it's LED like the other options. The CS rep. said the difference was it was matte, when I asked, to which I replied that it said it was "glossy" but not WLED and not "Bright." I wish they had better descriptions, lol. The tech guy said it was energy efficient, so I don't know if that means they are LED now or not...hmmm...;)
The Dell Studio 15 LED Display has a max resolution of 1280x800 for the regular and Hi-Res LED is 1440x900, The Regular Hi-Res Screen is 1920x1200 and does not come in LED. Hope that helps.
Thanks for that info. I'm still deciding if I should go with the HD or the regular 1280x800. I like the HD coz of the resolution but it isn't WLED. What is your opinion about it? How is your battery life and the quality of the screen? Unfortunately, none of the stores here in Canada have the HD model on display to see with my own eyes! Would appreciate your feedback regarding this.
Battery Life is good on the comp with the 9 cell battery 2.5 hrs the one with the 6 cell is quite a bit shorter 1.5 hrs. The quality of the screen is amazing I love it. I have always bought the high resolution screens because you can fir more on the screen and it makes the screen feel bigger. I like the Blu Ray drive because I don't have a stand alone one so I connect the laptop to my tv via HDMI and watch the Blu Ray movies that way.
Can you fit external speakers to it? I have a Studio 1737 on order and have just yesterday been made aware that sound quality is bad.Apparantly Dell admit its not great on sound , many people report tinny sound and if turned up to max it crackles , downloading latest drivers does not help
There is fix now for the crackling in the Studio 15 and the Studio 17 as well as some other models. I downloaded it from dells website and it worked no more crackling. hey, did your remote come with the laptop when you bought it, or did you buy it separately? if so, where did u get it from? cant find one anywhere. cheers
No my laptop did not come with the remote. I bought it on ebay. The black remote is hard to find but is worth it because it has way more features the the silver U.S. made remote. If you do an ebay search for Dell Travel Remote you may find it. This remote was never manufactured in the U.S. but it was in the UK. The person I bought it from was in the UK and I paid about $24 US. For it and it works flawlessly with my Studio 15.

Yep it has 2 headphone jacks. I have the same problem with the internal speakers.

ordered the same one today looks great, sounds like standard laptop speakers just plug the headphone jack into a hi-fi and it sounds great!
