I am English. My surname comes from from old English word for an inn keeper and I believe my family history has a connection to the French protestants that fled France in the 16th Century. SO NO SCOT'S ANCESTRY however I consider The Bruce the greatest ever Briton.
If he'd been born the son of a more powerful nation he would be considered with Julius Caesar, Napoleon or William the Conqueror one of histories all time legends.
@TheFatalInstinct1 Actually, no, I'm Australian, and my parents emigrated from Scotland/England 5 years before I was born. My last name is Roy. Also, as far as intellectually inferior goes, I'm a Masters student, looking at completing a PHD. But, you know, feel free to keep making ludicrously and embarrassingly inaccurate assumptions.
I was told by my aunt that my uncle has traced my family's ancestry on my grandmothers side to Robert the Bruce. It's always interesting to me to know where I came from.
First off, moron....I didn't leave and I am proud. My family came here in the 60's and I was born here. Therefore I am first gen. outside of Scotland. Unlike most who post here and I've been back enough times that I don't need a tour gude to go from Pollock to Paisley. Why they left? Why would I take the time to explain that to you? You're just the typical long distance tough guy who likes to insult from a safe, no doubt, grannie fortified basement!
Thanks for the uploads! Love this series and being the product of a proud Scots family that found its' way to Canada in the 1960's..... and extremely proud of my lineage.........Thank you!!!! And no...I cannot claim being related to the Bruce LOL Though we did fight with him and Wallace!
Indeed, Wallace had never agreed to be subject to the English crown. I am please Bishop Lamberton got some mention. He had a very important role but because he never actually killed anyone in battle there has never been a monument to him, at least that I am aware of.
@mortaj right so that's why they hung him for "high treason", you might want to look traitor up in the dictionary, this is the orginal usage of the term
Buckfast87, Robert the Bruce was lord of the manor of my home town, Hartlepool, in the 12th century. He built St Hildas church in 1170. Part of his house still remains in the village of Hart, next to the 7th century church. His claim on the Scottish crown was lost to John de Baliol, but as you know, Roberts grandson went on to be King
The Scots are part of the lost tribe of Israel. But so are the Saxons the word Saxons means Issacs sons.So are many Spaniards,Dutch,Germans,Americans,Canadians,All the Christian countries of Europe are the House of Isreal. The people known as Jews today are just 2 tribes of the biblical nation of Israel. The other 10 tribes are all around you
@segano1 The picts are members of the 10 tribes.Myth ......a simple study on the stone of Scone ,or stone of destiny as some call it might help you understand. That stone which was Jacobs pillar is the stone that rests under the coranation chair.I would recommend the book Jacobs Pillar by E Raymond Capt .In which he talks about the stone and the migrations of people which proves everything i said in my first comment.Give it a read it is a small litttle book and very interesting
@alphamale442 this is from the histroy of scotland series, you can buy it inline or watch them all on youtube, i believe this is episode 3 or 4 robert the bruce. great series
fantastic - went to the bannockburn battle site in july and saw the recreated face of robert the bruce ( done in 2005 in manchester ) and whats clear is this was no noble fancy dan but with cuts over both eyes and on the bridge of the nose , this was fighting man . This great leader made edward the 2nd fight his fight on the ground of his chosing . Not sure Daddyo would of fell for it though as in edward the 1st we ( I am a proud englishman ) had a leader to match but thats irrelevant .
Just visited bannockburn and looked into the face of robert of bruce ( the re created one ) and the thing that impressed me the most was the battle scars over both eyes and nose , this was a fighting man true and proud and the one thing both him and edward the 1st had in common was this fighting pedigree . Edward killed 2 muslim assasins single handedly and was also known to of been in the fighting front line on many occasions !!
Thanks for the download mortaj. But should it not be The story of the King who regained independence for Scotland. Scotland was a recognised nation long before England was. I think England was for a long time seven separate kingdoms, like Northumberland, Wessex etc.
this whole story about scota and the scots decending from noah isnt true it was just a story to persuade the pope. that story still fools ppl till this day..
You'll actually find this entire series has very strong Scottish nationalist undertones, especially near the end. Its so refreshing to see on television which is dominated by Unionist nonsense.
thank you mister for putting this up i really interested to find out about my great great great grand father King Bruce of dearly beloved scotland. makes my life a we bit easyer to understand them.
@casckana Awesome, you're related to him too?? My mom has done geneaology and he's my gret something grandfather too! I even made a group for it on Fb! Do you want the link?
ah no thanks though its great that we might be related to the same person lol you might be ou=ne of my cousins or something lol. but i still gotso much resarch to do lol
@ilttml so should andrew murry and so should every other scott who gave his life for scotland , why only the leaders who get the statues, scotland was not a one man leader
I can't believe am related to this guy, feels amazing!

@gaiuskaiser No, that's nothing more than myth.
The overwhelming mass majority of Scots descend from Picts as genetic evidence has proved in 2006.
The Saxons are the early English people, and their roots are not the same as the Scots.

Ok, I'll watch it.
But I'd still preffer to watch a documentary about Robert the Bruce (or Scottish history in general), which was made by Scots.
Doesn't Scotland have any movie/TV studios?
Even New Zealand is making internationally-watched movies & TV series, now.
