According to wikipedia, this game (except streamed music from the disc) run entirely from the ps1's RAM meaning it's no bigger thn 2Mb. AMAZING!

@t0nito Yeah, after the game booted, you could open the PS drive and swap in any music CD, and now you get those CD tracks as your background music. You could also put the game disc in a CD player to listen to the game music.

if you had the game for the PSX, you can take out the original cd, put in any music cd of your choice, and that will play as the background music!

Hello.I forgot which options I used for this.Its been a while I made this but I use the upscaling for PS2 Games on PS3.Yeah the PS3 upscaling is a nice thing for PS1 or PS2 games.:)

I remember in Official PlayStation Magazine someone wrote a letter in saying he had bought a defective copy of the game because he could only play on one track!

The game was great for the time, although I remember being peeved that there weren't more tracks. Out of Wipeout and Ridge Racer I preferred Wipeout and my opinion hasn't changed over time.

HD yeah!!! I love running the old ps games in the ps3 it's a good cheap retro fix as you can pick up the games for a penny. i remember when the ps2 was becoming established picking up some real classics on the ps1 for next to nothing.Type 4 is the best Ridge racer tho apart from the arcade original> if i had a few grand i'd be sat in one of those right now with a pile of 50 pence pieces instead of typing on here!

Nice. Did they smooth out the jaggies? I wish these re-releases of older games on PS3 and 360 would give you an option to play a game in it's originality(like no HQ or smoothed out textures) or with the High Def option.

Not sure what you mean.The orginal PS1 game disc of RR was in the PS3 while I played.So I couldnt play other discs.But I guess you ment the downloadable RR from PS Store if there is one.

@levisk1212 On the PS1 you can actually take out the game when the level loaded and put in your own music cd and it would play the music while you played the level. Then after you completed the level you would have to put the game disc back in.

Yes you can play PSX or PS2 on "older" versions of (fat) PS3 (not all)

I think now they removed the thing to play classic games on PS3.

Techically, the Ridge Racer series began as an arcade game and what you're showing is a downgraded PS1 port of it. The arcade game still looks very nice running on System 22.

wow years since ive played this game but i played it death when i was a kid just seeing the track brings it all back!

i remember tryin to mess about with it though - one thing i remember was you never could fly off the edge of the track and you never could see underneath the cars

only thing i hated was when you went into a car from the back - it would give them some wierd strange useful shunt!

main things i remember are pop up, cheesy commentry, and of course the infamous BLACK CAR! lol :P

Ah my very first PSX game, along with Alien Trilogy (I GOT PINK ACID BOOTS ON!!!! lol)... ahem, supreme memory aside, this game was awesome, I was the only one in my school who could beat the diablo/black car! ^^

there is 1 thing i don't like bout p3 (read carefully few times especially if u american ),when u play ps1 games on ps3 for example the output graphicx is 320x240,when u play ps1 games on pc(with emulator) ,the plugins and soft make it look very nice,question is why sony didn't made look ps1-2 games on ps3 real nice?

Dunno but maybe you can change more settings on PC with emulator than on PS3which is fixed.Of course sony can do a soft update to change that.
