  • . . . .Oops sorry for the slip,cant get use to these locos in 'posh-frocks', i know the livery is as authentic as poss., but reminds me of that Wizardy-loco awfulness. . .Oo-er !. . .and as an old steam loco man 'She!' lived at Crewe and when ya could see the cabside it 'ad a 4 prefix, . . .roll-on Brunswick green.

  • Jubilees were quite rare on this route but very common on the route to Skipton and beyond.Before this route was rationalised and had four running lines,races with other locos on the ajacent line were common,we would always be the coach just behind the tender,and once when our loco was Jubilee Achilles,going like the clappers,we were challenged by a Britannia on a Scottish relief,we blew 'em away,but was amazed to see our fireman banging the cabside wiv his shovel like a jockey's whip!happy daze.
