all very nice but hey! if you live near a church dont moan when the bells start ringing. A second runway is vital for stansted, gatwick ,and a third one is vital for heathrow. they will all happen you are only prolonging the inevitable.
When I first came to Essex, I was amazed to see so many thatched cottages: I thought you only found them in places like Devon, Dorset and the Cotswolds. Imagine the outcry if they tried to build another Heathrow in the Cotswolds yet building it in this beautiful Essex countryside would be a crime of the same magnitude. If we continue to concrete over our history and bulldoze our heritage in the selfish pursuit of convenience and pleasure, how will we look our grandchildren in the eye?
The area around Stansted Airport is most certainly worth fighting to keep. It represents all that is best in England in terms of quality of life and a real sense of local communities. It really is a precious corner of the earth that is good for the body and soul. Concrete, noise, pollution, global warming are not the way towards a sustainable future. Let's get real and stop airport expansion.
