Built this monster, it sounds friggin awesome! Added some switches to change caps for single coil or humbucker :D very very nice pedal! Buy it if you can get it, it's worth it
I haven't owned every marshall but about 15 of them from different eras. My favorites were a mid 70s 50watt JMP master volume and an early 70's 100watt mk2 non master that was modded extensively but sounded amazing. This pedal is good, not bad at all!
That's what we call "marketing" dude. It's just a name, obviously no ss distortion pedal can actually replace a vintage tube amp. At best, it sorta gimmicks the tone I guess.
Is it my imagination, this pedal seems a lot better than the tubescreamer. In fact I would say it makes the tube screamer sound like shit. Also does this pedal have true bypass. I want to use it with a fender hot rod deluxe, my Jackson guitar has twin seymour humbuckers. Do you reckon I could get some good kick butt sounds with this. I play anything from beatles to metallica. Any help greatly appreciated, thanks
Id go marshall...not only do they sound great, they are a piece of rock n roll history...and they look cool.....however I play a 50 watt vox tube half stack so I'm no marshall expert......good enough for slash and jimmy page, good enough for me =)
I was about to by the Box of Rock last week. Man I'm glad i discovered this thing I need something with a little more gain. The black version seems to look a little better to. By the way thanks for the Clyde Deluxe it will never leave my board. : )
I only wish it had more midrange, so I could replicate Page, Paul Kossoff and stuff like that. But, maybe with a Ts-9 boosting this might do the trick.
Check out 3:50 on the video. We plugged in a G&L Legacy for single coil action! The pedal has plenty of gain for both types of pickups. With the Freq knob, you can add extra low end to your Strat. Thanks,
Great pedal but a little expensive...

ok this is the second one Ive heard from you guys that I like
twopopsforsure 1 year ago
I like the sound of this pedal a lot, but it's not really plexi-ish, too fuzzy in the low end. Plexis are much tighter sounding in the bottom end.
ep9229 1 year ago
I hate to say this but i think the Box of Rock is better at the Plexi thing.

sounds like a smoth distortion...i'd rather crunch box for distorted sounds like GnR and a t.rex alberta for a creamy tone. ;)

Sounds like a pedal. Take that however you want.

ounds more like distortion :)

People who own Marshalls will tell you that it sucks but only because they are jealous, it is a fucking awesome pedal.

Sounds very close to a Marshall sound.
Hertsman50 2 years ago
This is a plexi? I have both a 69 plexi and a Marshall 800. This doesn't come near!
But it would be silly if a pedal could even come close to a vintage 2000 euro amp, wouldn't it? Grow up guys.

The new purple plexi pedals sound more accurate. Plus the amp used to demonstrate was kind of muddy.

too much midrange. i have an 800 and i happen to know that this pedal sounds like an 800 with the mid knob turned up too much.

u could just use a 10 band eq to eliminate that

sounds exactly like the COT 50 Gold with a touch more gain. probably just changed the clippers or used a higher gain transistor.
