There is one thing I don't like about this car. The fact, that it's not mine.

And if it was, I would totally replace the soft top with hard one. It's the best looking hard top convertible in the world.

I bought a 2005 a few weeks ago, i could not be happier with it. even at 6 years old it's still one of the hottest cars on the road. And man is it fast! I can't imagine how i got by without it.

@MrThunderMonky Did you get the 3.0 litre? If so have you tried the sound generator mod? Just pull one piece of sponge out of the pipe and it makes it sound like a beast! Have to say though, I expected better build quality from BMW.

If I had to chose again, I would still go for the Z4. Its a great car with an individual style. You get the BMW straight 6 in the 3.0 and M which will keep on going forever not to mention the unbelievable sound of the engine when you give it some in every gear.

The SLK in my opinon tends to be the car of choice for middle age men in a mid-life crisis or a sweet looking drop-top for the ladyeez.

Recently purchased a 2005 Z4, 3.0 liter engine, six speed manual. A wonderful car with extraordinary gas mileage, I average 25 plus miles per gallon. Fast, classy and the build quality of a bank vault. Now, if I could only get my hands on an M series......

It's dissapointing how much new cars lose in value in the first few years but it means average wage earners can afford them when 5 or 6 yrs old if you don't mind paying extra for servicing.

Most people don't realize, the Z4 is a lightweight sports car. My 2005 3.0 6-speed with sport and premium/Nav, goes beautifully. 225 hp for 2800 lbs is alot.

the s2000 will be more reliable....the z4 has the same engine / trans as the E46.  The answer is yes, it will easily do 100k. 200k with decent maint and 300k if properly cared for... reliability is a relative term... the s2000 would be more trouble free. check consumer reports.

This video is BS! The Z3 came out in 1996--they don't even mention the M models that came out: first with 240hp and then 315hp from '01-'02. The Z8 (which they say came before the Z3) actually came out in 2000. These people are idiots! It's not that hard to find out these facts.
