there are so many round about thing you have to do in smoke just to even start editing your footage. I mean sure it makes your final product better when everything is perfectly layed out, but what happens when your director wants a quick rough cut on his desktop and you cant deliver because you are too busy poking around with individual clips?

Am a Sound Engineer , i do Commercials mostly. All my sound Mixes goes to Smoke for sound slaps and from there to a Digi Beta ( Tv Broadcast ) we give Sound at -16 bit / 48 khz - WAV format . My Question is , what is the Best Format for Sound slap on Smoke for TV broadcast ? Can Smoke take -24 bit /48 khz -Sound ?

Everything Autodesk is so confusing! What's wrong with using After Effects? Where it actually make sense and there's no secret button combos like F Drag? Copy and Paste?

@InTheCity3D Well, a $8000 Korg Oasys is confusing too, what's wrong with a cheap Casio PT-1? ;)

I haven't used Smoke, but its minimum reqs are a Mac Pro 8core with 12GB of RAM and Nvidia Quadro video cards I guess you can do more stuff than the usual.

The only thing I know is that House MD, CSI NY and a lot more are processed with Smoke.

I'm not a compositor, I'm a 3D artist. And those I far exceed those specs you posted for the Mac pro, with my PC workstation.

I don't doubt that I could easily adjust to the workflow here, but from my experiences with autodesk, they do everything very unlike most other app developers, there is no continuity, or little logic in their madness.

@waynegacy666 anyway all of this programs seem same to me XD I use Final cut pro, and sometimes Avid Media Composer but I don't like it that much. I think this one can work with very heavy video files, maybe even uncompressed video or something. That's why you need a super mac to use that XD

It is sure a faster way to work.

Just like Blender (just to name something), it's interface scares people. But when you get better at it, you can do things way faster.
