I love the Ramones , they used to be my favorite band when i was 5 years old. Ten years later my favorite band is Godsmack , but i still listen to these ledgends, R.I.P Joey , Fuck cancer!!!
Damn Johnny really put it in man! He played his ass off man. Idk jack shit about playing a guitar, but Johnny played the fuck outta that fuckin instrument.
@bamagreycoat1 Well he's not playing much, but what he does play he plays with energy which is great. Today most guitarists aren't playing shit and yet they don't even move around onstage. They just stand idly by like fags.
The only show my brother walked out on was the Ramones in 1978. He didn't get then or now. Me? I always loved them and wish I would have seen them when I had the chance but the timing was never right. Why has no one made a movie about them?
@AnimeXAnonymousX "Rock and Roll Highschool" was a camp classic starring PJ Soles that featured some really great footage of them live and some other scenes of them just sorta hanging out but it wasn't about them. I'm talkin' a bio pic like "The Runaways". Thanks anyway.
@SKYLEROFNY A really great documentary that Johnny wasn't too proud of in the end he said, because it made him look sorta like a mean guy but it was Johnny's band and he ran it his way. "The Runaways" was not a documentary. Sorry I guess I should have been more specific but thanks for the comments.
damn. look at joey and his stance, not a better one in rock history. he and especially the band are disgustingly underrated, but somehow the fabric/dna of what all the good music comes from now. look at the end of now i wanna sniff some glue during the end and joey has finished singing, he's fucking keeping beat with his leg. they're in lock step. those kind of things make the music that much more powerful. they're one of our country's artform, and they should be pushed more culturally.
@Awesomeman37 Dee Dee is the coolest he co-wrote on there best song (blitzkrieg bop) and tons of others and was pretty much the only real punk in the group the other guys where just cool people....
@RamonesFreak566 Yes, there would. The Stooges were around before the Ramones, and even before the Stooges, there was David Peel who is the grandfather of punk, and was influencing other bands besides these lil' punks from NYC. The Ramones were crucial parts to the punk movement though.
@1776freedom Hate to break it to ya, but look closely at the kit during those parts. It's not cowbell, it's just lightly tapping the top of the ride cymbal. =\ A+ for the effort, though. I love Walken and "more cowbell"!
I first saw them in April 1978. You either understood immediately what they meant to music and how everything had suddenly changed, or you didn't have a clue. Even in the early 90's most people still didn't get it. Now, they are rock gods. To me they always were. How do you explain that?
@RamonesFreak566 Hah its great to hear that someone knows what its like..when i play my guitar..ALL i play is ramones songs and it is a habit to act like johnny..and theyre all i listen to 24/7:D
@AnnihalationonaStick He had a style that you would THINK would be easy to duplicate, but it's fucking not. Everybody thinks Ramones music is so easy to play, but when they try it they're like Fuck, my goddamn arm is cramping like a motherfucker.
In my humble opinion Joey Ramone is the ultimate rock n roll hero. He grows up not really good looking and not apart of the in crowd buuuuuuuuut not only does he wind up fronting the greatest band to come out of New York but the greatest punk rock band of all time. Long live Joey Ramone.
iT'S good how it shows that if you want to film a gig ,you need 4 cameras or more- RAMONES were the global ringleader to 500 or more bands at the time, but sadly only one camrea on each - if that!
Thanks for posting this show. I never had the chance to be there, because i'm a young girl, but I know what's good music, and of course, ramones is the best band in the world.
