Pearl Jam describes life with the power of the ocean and waves I guess because the ocean is a powerful thing. It gives a takes, and you have to respect it. It's kind of like life if you really think about it. You know what I mean.
@heavenlydemonic23 I have read The Old Man And the Sea, many many years ago. I don't know if he got the lyrics from there. But yes, with all the descriptive writing in that book it does make sense what you are trying to say.
@W78516 Well its not like word for word on anything its more like the book inspired him. He has said that much himself. Makes me wonder what other books inspired him
jack irons rules..........stone gossard was already playing the song fast anyway........who gives a fuck........at least they are all out there playing music and not at home sitting naked in front of the computer scouring youtube for porn...........
vintoni is right about it speeding up when Jack comes in. I've never liked this song live more than the studio version, but more for the fact Ed's voice has to be spot on, and he really killed his voice on this tour.
I think Jack's drumming really makes some of the songs on No Code and Yield, but there are some that Matt Cameron really blows him out of the water on.

I would have to say Dave A is my favorite Pearl Jam drummer. His "HIT" detection is insane. especially on RearViewMirror its nuts!

jack really looks funny when he plays the drums. but i like his style, nothing fancy, straight rock, no posing like dave did.

I find it difficult to watch PJ videos without Dave A behind the drums. Listen to how Irons speeds up the tempo as soon as he comes in. Arsehole.
