haha!! We CAMPED on the Isle of Skye (the Loch of Sligachan) and they were HORRIBLE!!! You could hardly breath while trying to set up the tent (so I got in the car and watched the others - still got attacked by them though!)
Nasty wee beasties - this place is a wonderful place to live but not in the summer which is usually warm & damp - just perfect conditions for the midge!
I had 152 bites on my left arm from the little swines when I went camping one time. I didn't bother counting the bites on the other arm which was just as bad.
I'm being eaten alive by them tonight here in Aberdeenshire, being native they usually leave me alone but tonight they're out in force. I just killed hundreds that had gathered on the ceiling.
lol, try taking part in an airsoft of CCF exercise in june...there everywhere! Most of the sessions are spent lying in cover or moving through woodland infested with millions of 'em.
The worst thing is u just have stay in cover and sit it out...if u move out of position u get shot :P
:o. I was born in Carbost at Glen eynort and lived there for about 6 years. :) I was used to the midgies :D didnt get bitten thankfully. But real nice place.
This video was filmed a short distance from Carbost, on the Isle of Skye, Scotland. I'd never seen midges before! They look so harmless. Just like the little knats we have in California. I had red bite marks for days...
haha nice footage "not me though" lol
I got hammered by those little suckers! 130 bites in 50 mins - definately need one of those net head cover things!

I'm itching just thinking about them.
You get used to them after living in Scotland for a while. It wouldn't be summer here without them.
