thanks, i can finnaly use a 10" kenwood sub i had sitting in my basement for a while, one question though, when you say "connect 2-3 yellow and black wires" to reduce head in the wires, does it matter which yellow and black wires i use?
hey man, i got a sony xplode amp xm-554zr 4/3 channel, 600W, and a kenwood KAC-6485 4/3/2 channel amp, and a sony xplode 10" sub that says 1200W outside with all black color that I want to hook up to my computer as a sub using my creative 5.1 speakers with Creative Soundblaster X-Fi Surround 5.1 Pro USB Audio System with THX SB1095. which amp would work better with the sub and need your help on chossing the type of psu for it. Ill post the specs for the sony amp and sub in another post
Hi, ive connected a couple of yellow wires to my 12v input and a couple of black wires to my ground, but whenever i connect the 12v input and the remote together, my power supply switches off, do you know why?
At about 4:37 in your video you talked about using multiple wires to prevent them from getting too hot but on the connecter there are only only two black and one yellow wire? where did you get four black and four yellow wires? also how many should i use to short my positive with my remote? Last question, what would happen if my PSU has lower amps than my actual amp. i dont know what kind of amp i have but its very powerful and my PSU only powers 18A max. Thanks a lot. It's a great video.
@GSROOSTA Well since there are more than one 12v molex connecters use 2 - 3 of those and cut them so that you will have many wires carrying the current to your amp. If your powersupply has a lower current than the actual amp your simply under powering it resulting it a lower output (Sound or bass).
@pkalldayful The receiver will need to have enough power to drive the sub. You may need to check the manufacturer to see the output for each channel for your receiver.
IM THINKING SOMETHING SOMETHING IS HOOKED UP WRONG ON MY END BECAUSEWHEN I TURN THE VOLUME UP ON THE RECEIVER AND BASS STAYS THE SAME DOESN'T GO UP AT ALL I KNOW ITS NOT SUPPOSE TO DO THAT JUST LET ME KNOW.........THANKS IN ADVANCE
ok im kinda stuck i hooked it up just like u i have a psu i just bought tonight its a extreme power plus 600w not sure how to read it so i will put exactly whats on the box dc output is.................
+3.3v +5v +12v +5vsb ok and max output is
25a 30a 18a 18a 0.8a 2.5a
ok now the reason i sent this is because the system is not loud i use three 12inch kickers 400watts each my amp pushes that no prob and its barely moving the speakers.....just wanted to know if you have any tips
YOU HAVE HELPED ME OUT SO MUCH WITH THIS VIDEO, AND FOR THAT I TRULY THANK U....IM ON MY WAY TO THE STORE TO BUY A PSU...I HAVE 2 15'S SOLO BARIC L7'S 2000 WATTPEAK 1000 RMS AND A 500WATT JL AUDIO AMP....IT SOUNDS GOOD IN MY TRUCK BUT WANT IT IN THE HOUSE FOR NOW TIME TO SEE HOW IT SOUNDS I JUST SIGN TO YOUTUBE TODAY SO IF I GET IT WORKING..CORRECTLY I WILL UPLOAD A VIDEO....THANKS A LOT GREAT VIDEO
@mattheoo7 I just tied them up with a twist tie, I wouldn't recommend cutting the wires, because in case something were to go wrong with your existing wires you wouldn't be able to connect em with any other wires.
can you please reply im trying to get a powersupply cause i got my speakers and 1000 watt sub thats max amp consumption is 30 amps what power supply are you running?
can i in any way hook my car sub in my receiver? i have floorstanding speakers and wanna hook up this sub but i still wanna get the signal from my music from my receiver and wanna get the power from my car amp. Thanks!
A DJ Amp might use more power but at least it would be safer. And one could do a lot more with a DJ Amp. I'll be doing that once I get the money togther. More people buying these kind of amps would bring the prices down.
On the other-hand, DJ Amps would be easier. They are exspensive, but they don't cost much more than Car-Amps. I seen a Crown DJ Amp for $299.00. At 1100watts bridged.
That is a simple way to add more power to computer audio. Computers should come with quick hook ups to add DC Amplifier(s). Doing it that way would save more room because car-amps don't take up that much room. And car-amps are cheeper, but not power-supplies for a computer. You should do a video of your set-up being hooked-up neatly.
would it be possible to hook up a jl audio 13.5 w7 with a jl audio amp at 1000 watts, all this would be connected to a car battery and the car battery would be connected to a 600-Watt Powerpack.
@MaxVolumeify sounds good but how do i know how many amps the jl audio 1000/1 is. is it 1000 watts at 12 volts witch would be 83.3 amps? if this is right would i have to get a powerpack that is 1000 watts or higher that pushes more than 83 amps at 12 volts? and also does the power pack die on you or would it just stay on as long as it is connected?
Now you will need to find the model of the amplifier and search on the website the specifications. You will need to find its amperage rating at 12volts. Accordingly you will have to buy a power supply. I would go with a powerpack that is close to around 600 to 700 watt.
i dont know exactly what i need for a power supply amperage wise. but i have a 300watt computer power supply. wired to a 580watt amplifier. thats wired to a 15inch kicker L5. wired just as you show it here. pounds nice with all the knobs turned all the way down, but as soon as i turn the input up at all it cuts the power off to the amp
Your amp is tripping, do you know if the sub is a dvc? If so wire according to the amps output impedance. That should fix it. The Amps output and the subs impedance are not matching so the amp is tripping to save the save from blowing.
SO i have a a small 200w alpine Amp at 4ohm and 350w at 2ohms.....on my amp theirs two 20 Amp fuses. Does this mean i need a 40 amp psu for a small 200w Amp? or can i get away with one psu at 20amps and 400w? your help would we great!
From your audio source you will need an audio splitter one (3.5mm-red/white) jack goes to the bass amp the other (3.5mm-red/white) will go to your other amplifier that's powering the other speakers for mids and highs. Remember to change the your settings on the crossover so that only bass is produced by one amp and the other will single out all the high notes in the song.
thanks . i have another question . i have two amplifiers . i want to run one for my subs and the other for my mids and highs . how can i do this ? i have no idea how to connect them together . i have a kole audio qx2-1440 and a shadow sta-1002d .
rite now i could play that song bass i love u . but i could berly feel it . if i turn it up a little to much it sounds distorded . im not even sure what its supose to sound like . would adding more amps allow me to turn it up without distorting ? or what can i do to solve the distortion problem ?
Amperage is the strength and amount of current flowing through the appliance in this situation its your amp. In your case the amperage is too high. Be careful when turning it up you might just end up blowing up something. You need to match the psu amperage with the amplifier amperage so that your set in a safe range.
o orite . since rite now i probly have 20a total with my 2 pc power suplys . since one is 18 and the other 3.3 at the 12v rail . then two pc power suplys that have 30a at the 12v rail should run it better rite ? it should give me more bass rite ? cause rite now i have prety good bass . or would it just allow me to put more speakers in my amp ?
i have a qx2-1440 kole audio . its 1440 watt/720 rms . it has 2 fuses that r 40 each . so how do i do this ? i want to get full potency . i currently have it connected with 2 pc power suplys , 500w/12v 18a . and a 300w/12v 3.5 a . it runs prety good . shakes up half the block i think i only have 2 15" connected . but iv been reading about this stuff and it says that the amps in the pc power suply should b around the amps in the car amp . wat can i do to get it running at full potency ?
Yes, they are right. PC power supplies need to match or be in the range of the amplifier itself. Find out the amperage rating on your amp and accordingly buy ur PSU.
Your gonna have a tough time finding a a computer power supply that gives of 32 volts at around 60 amps, and even if you do its gonna be quite costly. So you may have to wire 3 power supplies (12 volts at 60 amps) in series to the amplifier.
oh and another question bro.. i have 2 mtx jack hammer series 5500 series with a power tech amp pushing 1200 walts..
whats suggested power supply would i need?
im only asking cause i seen lots of videos showing how to do it but yours is more legit and looks really clean and you sound like you know wat your doing and how to put everything together.. so any suggestions?
@sunstyle52 Yeah, go to the power tech website and look up your model and find the amperage rating should be between 30 to 40. Once you've gotten that go out looking for a power supply that has a wattage close to or around your 1200 watts and the amperage should match or again be around the same as the amplifer. Matching the amperage just assures that your able to push those subs with max power at 12volts.
Compare the amperage rating of your amplifier and the power supply they should be around the same, never buy the power supply or amplifer according to the other wattage.
If you guys wana really power a car amp in yer house go out and get a rv power converter . they go from 35 amps to 100 or more, they are for powering the lights and other stuff in a rv and put out 14.4 volts the same as a car if it was running , i have a 35 amp one and its the shit wayyy better then my old psu from a pc i had rigged up, i have it running a 800 watt alpine amp at 2 ohms with a 2 farad cap and a 12 inch soundstream r1 and it hits hard as fuck
I'm 14 but I get some but I'm running a fusion reactor in my house with 200w I want more out of it do I buy amp and power supply and do it that way but thank help me
If you have a 200 watt subwoofer, then you need to find an amplifier around the same wattage. Take note of the RMS and the Peak wattage(don't mix those up!). When you find your amplifier, take a look at the specs. You need to find the amperage rating (Amps). Most car amps run at 20 to 35 amps. When you get that number (ex. 30 amps) you need to buy a computer power supply that matches the amplifier amperage rating. On the power supply it will say 12 Volts at 30 amps. This is will push your amp.
Hey so you wired your black to ground and yellow to power but you were saying your wires were getting two hot, but i mean how did you wire bigger cables onto there
When i first got the amp i used one yellow for positive and one black for negative ground. What i did was i cut several black and several yellow and then connected it into the slot. They don't get that hot anymore.
song name plz?:D i want to test my sub on this song:D

@sunstyle52 Yeah, go to the power tech website and look up your model and find the amperage rating should be between 30 to 40. Once you've gotten that go out looking for a power supply that has a wattage close to or around your 1200 watts and the amperage should match or again be around the same as the amplifer. Matching the amperage just assures that your able to push those subs with max power at 12volts.

When i first got the amp i used one yellow for positive and one black for negative ground. What i did was i cut several black and several yellow and then connected it into the slot. They don't get that hot anymore.

You need to check the specs on the PSU in ur computer. To run a decent amp you would need at least 250 watts and 12 volts running at 20 to 30 amps.
