  • To me shes sayin Black People who have no home. It was lost back in Africa. and the culture we've embraced which is perpetuated by White Supremacy has caused our poets to Rap abot thuggin, killin,Ho'n.It's Okayed by the Whites who own the Media that broadcasts and REWARDS these lyrics. He wanted to be a PIMP maybe like Hugh Hefner, he was everything Dr Dre ,Snoop and 2 Short bragged about. If Only he listened to XCLAN, Public Enemy, KRS-1, and ICE-T, If only a man like Michael Dyson got to him.

  • @nandansho Thank you for your insightful and inspiring words. Indeed, stepping up to be present for our black youth is paramount to any hope of reversing this mounting social tragedy. I belong to a group called the Mentoring Men’s Movement. As a member I have made dozens of visits to our county jail to sit with those incarcerated, and to be available to them upon their reentry....

  • @nandansho Yet no matter how I may try to prepare myself for a visit, I am always shocked to see the reality of the statistics so vividly realized at the overwhelming sight of so many of our Black men incarcerated. I hope you will allow me to quote your statement. Onward and upward, ~ e

  • @ellisonhorne I'm honored, I've worked with troubled Kids at the crossroads of their lives, This is a true and profound statement about former vice President Dick Cheney. He owns stock in UNICOR. Thats a Prison Corporation for profit. Do you think it'es in the best interest of one of the most powerful Demons in the World to make policy that would REDUCE the Prison population? Once we know the rulz and players we make better decisions, They can't see us making money online.

  • No....what is sad is using an old woman who has suffered in her life from racial injustice to defend a man who was convicted of prostituting a 14 year old black female...this post is sad...sick

  • @MogusBroker Thank you for your response. I am certainly not indifferent to your words; however it never occurred to me that Odetta was singing only about herself. I see her as a gifted and wise woman who cultivated tremendous humanity and compassion in her life. For me, the video is an essay of the past, present and future for those of us who have endured and continue to struggle against overwhelming hatred, exploitation, and unbearable misery over hundreds of years...

  • @MogusBroker Thankfully, there are those who have come along as bright spirits, that guide us with their gifts and talents onto a healing pathway of forgiveness and generosity. The video is not about whether the young man is right or wrong, the fact is he has been killed, and there he is, alone, and dying alone. And Odetta’s choice for a song to remember her by serves as a reminder to us, of our own humanity and compassion. ~ e

  • The sadness for me is watching this man die alone in a crowd. This is the current value of life. We're letting it slip away.

  • @bluetieoptional Indeed, it is heartbreaking to see. Thank you for sharing your caring words. ~ e

  • Ellison you made a brilliant video! Very powerful.

  • @stephenleadersf Thank you for your kind words. It was certainly a labor of deeply held feelings. As I have stated, sometimes it seems like the whole world is a motherless child. ~ e
