Does it matter if Warcraft is similar to LoTR? Lord of the Rings was epic, and awesome, and freaking sweet in all ways- it set the standard for modern fantasy, both in novels and in games. It's kind of hard to cover the medieval fantasy genre without an LoTR feel, just because Tolkein incorporated all the badass coolness that you can expect. Warcraft is an awesome series in its own right... let's do a little less comparing.

this reminds me of the scenery and buildings of the Witch king faction in lord of the rings: the battle for middle earth II: The Rise of the Witch king (note the similarity in expansion names as well as "rise" is replaced by "wrath" and "witch" with "lich")

Well to be honest, when you think about it, the two guys do look a lot alike, and have similar goals. Of course, the Witch King never quit working for Sauron, so in that regard the Lich King is probably an improvement on the former.
