  • You throw the gold rocks and left the dirty xD

  • where are yall

  • you must be the original forrest gump

  • Once again a very interesting and potentially useful video.

Great to see a look into panning.

I've been picking up and collecting rocks my whole life...and I have a few kewl finds but nothing but Ironpirate so far LOL.

I've managed to collect lots of red jasper. I just do it for my own interests and fun :D

Glad you posted this...I've never tried true panning but we have gold in my Province and with every creek (thousands) that I have crossed I always look down with hopes of gold LOL

    5/5

  • The problem with this video is that I captured these scenes in a big hurry. I had been fly fishing all day and decided to record this at the end of my fishing session. SIMPLE gold panning is fairly easy, BUT what I am mostly looking for is AGATES because my wife is a custom jewelry maker. Maybe one day, I will find that 10 pounder (LOL). Thanks for the review :)

  • @MrJumBow Was the 10 pounds of Agate or fish your were hoping to find?

  • a miner and prospector helps clean up the rivers and streams of lead, metal, mercury and other trash .. i am a dredger and a prospector.. you don't need black sand to find gold .. black sand is a indicator that there might be gold.but NOT always present when gold is found!!

you also need to get more aggressive with your panning action. and get ya self a classifier pan and classify every thing down to 1/2 to1/4 inch and then pan it out! much easier to pan this way!!!

  • Setting up DREDGES in the State of Montana is not allowed on BLM or FOREST service land unless you have a mining claim. I intended this video for just BASIC gold panning and the searching of agates. I am highly aware of the other methods. I worked many years for the Montana Bureau of Mines and Geology. Thanks so much for the comments and insights :)

  • I guess yu had no luck...lol..maybe next time:)

  • HAY, I'm an OLD man, what do ya expect...?? (LOL) Naw, Mommy the REALITY is that the particular drainage I was "recording" in had very little "black sand". Where there is NO BLACK MAG ... there is usually no gold. However, since that time I have found a much better place. I shall keep looking for ya....!!

  • I loved it ty for taking the time<333((peace))

  • I was actually looking for a big fatty GOLD NUG just for you (lol)

  • Yeah baby, that's what I am talking about....!! MAKE SURE that you watch out for my NEXT video. It will blow your mind and make you realize WHY Montana is named this way. "MONTANA" is a Spanish word that means MOUNTAINS. Plain and simple...!!

  • Great video Jim...did you find any gold? Or gems? I love agate..so pretty in its natural state before it gets dyed and stuff :)

  • Please approve my video response of my little tribute and shout out to you.

    James

  • Sometimes my MIND does work James. (LOL) I have watched and approve of your video...!! Keep up the great work and so forth....!!

  • Nice Video Jim

    Cya Soon

    John

  • Well thanks so much John. I was a wee bit hesitant to create a rock and gem hunting video because I had no idea if folks were interested in that sort of activity. None-the-less, what you seen there (in the video) is PRECISELY how a person should "pan for gold". Thanks for your support. Greatly appreciated.

  • Another great video, I want some of that gold, please do a knife sharpenig video.

    James

  • Ummm James, I am fresh out of GOLD nuggets (LOL). Well I did a knife sharpening video on BLOB (LOL) TV, but maybe you are right. Maybe I should post one on YouTube here. Be looking forward to my NEXT video which should be out in a 4 to 5 days. Thanks for your support...!!

  • I know I seen it but a video here would be great too.

    James

  • hey Jim cool searching for gold its very intersting the search of Gold but it takes alot of time before you find something yeah if you are luckey then you find alot of Gold then you are rich woo hoo Jim. so Jim great video you put there on your page always nice to see the area of Montana and the beautiful flowers not to forget they are wunderful Jim i love pictures from beautiful plants you have make thanks for this video again. i cant wait for a new one i have rated your video like i always do

  • Thanks Bush. Naw, finding "flake or placer" gold is really not all that hard to find in the State of Montana U.S.A. There exisits other precious gems like pure crystal quartz, Montana Blue Saphires and agates that are just are hard to find if NOT harder (lol)
