  • You might be better off looking into a Cam Caddie, I've had great success using one to get smooth shots and they are very inexpensive.

  • alright. who else touched their screen cuz they thought it had water on it..

  • The problem with these demonstration videos, is this guy seems to use an inversion racket in every single one, as if he were the kid riding his trike in The Shining. Unlike those scenes in The Shining, all these videos (poor man's camera stabilizer vids) are shot at an odd angle (as if the person shooting them were leaning to one side or had one leg that's shorter than the other) both of which make it hard to tell how well this thing actually works.

  • I would suggest to first check out the Cam Caddie SCorpion it goes for $38 and I've had great success capturing smooth shots. The shots in this video are still a little shaky.

  • I miss CMU.

This device is clever. I've built one myself, and all indications are that it will be a great bit of kit. I intend to give it a shakedown at an event I'm going to in May.

  • This is amazing

  • while not as good as a professional one, it's good enough for the amount it costs, if only there was a cheap and easy way to get rid of the side jitter

  • @shayneac

if you want a really good steadycam for a really good price. The poor man's steadycam is just 2 bars and a weight. I REAL EFFECTIVE steadycam NEEDS A GIMBLE ON AN AXIS.

Go for the MiniDV Stabilizer. It gets results almost as good as the steadicam merlin, and it's only $100.

It's a great great great steadycam. And I mean great!

    seriously it's great great great.

did I mention how great it is? Seriously, look at my newest test footage.

  • How did you build that again? I can't find where you explain how you built the arm? Thanks!

  • What are you talking about? The cam was following the action smoothly without the up and down shake you often see from cheap home videos. Steady cam is exactly what we saw.

  • I think i like this idea better than paying 300$ for a real steadycam that prolly only works this good anyway.

  • $300?

    Try $5000

  • is that Jason Statham ? :D

    nice technique!

  • nyu soccer kicked cmu's ass on that field last fall

  • its more steady than freehand

  • maybe that is why they call it steady cam

  • No offense, but Soccer isn't really huge in our country. I personally don't have anything against it, I just don't play.

  • Europeans don't like it when people reffer to football as soccer. :D

    Don't mess with hockey.

  • mate.

    seriously wtf.

  • The idea of this video is not to show how good Americans are at soccer, and I'm sure there are better players than this in the States.

  • agreed

  • its not that bad. better than any averange english or german nonprofessional. but it doesnt matter anyway

  • hes better than me

  • You are one of the few guys in the world that's deserved to be a millionaire

  • I hope you're making good money from this.

  • looks really professional

  • this video is really awesome! i'm shocked at how smooth it looks. this steady cam invention will be so useful to all of us amateur videographers!

  • squirl nut zippers!!
