Thanks! Just tried this using 70% Isoproppyl alcohol with a business card are you demonstrated and it worked perfectly. Needed to remove so strange spotting that was appearing on the screen and this did the trick. The rest of the unit was dust free, but a regular head cleaner had not worked before we tried this. Again, Thanks so much :) for all your good help!
@stanleysfriends Thank you ,stanleysfriends. Glad this video helped you to fix your VCR ,after all that is our main goal . Just watch out for the really abrasive looking cards as well as the ones that look like they may come apart real easy. I learned this trick from a former coworker who was a electronics tech.
@rbeoulve LOL. That's why we have the bloopers video. We repaired a microwave oven to do the 'How microwave oven works'. Turned it on for demonstration when all the power went out. Circuit breaker overloaded from the electric heaters and then the microwave oven. It was perfect timing since I just mentioned we fixed the microwave when the power went it out. LMAO! -MrFixit
@CygnusRising001 Thank you. WhizKid learned that from another friend. I've always used Chamois swabs till he showed using a business card. Just be sure the card isn't too abrasive as this will damage the heads. -MrFixit
@fatinthemiddle From what info I gathered for Alesis Digital Audio Tape, this process will work EXCEPT DO NOT use the business card or denatured alcohol to clean the heads. Must use a lint-free chamois like Chamois tipped swabs and 99% pure isopropyl alcohol. AVOID any vertical movements of the swab in respect to the tape's path. Be sure to back up any master recordings before proceeding.
This video help me bring back a expensive DVHS recorder that stopped working. The cleaning tape didn't work but the card trick fixed it. Thank You Very much.
@theysaid99 We're glad this video helped. The cleaning tapes don't always do a good job. There are times when the only option is taking the cover off to clean it manually.
sorry im an asshole, just was hard to understand your tutorial at times. It helped though

I have 91% alcohol in the house. Is that safe to use on the heads and drum?
