  • Can this be done while the trailing arm is still on the car? Just unbolt it and let it hang? Or do I have to totally remove it? Thanks in advance.

  • @furious94ls yes you can do it while its on the car, that's actually mentioned in the video... the right side is a lil more difficult depending on your exhaust set up, it can get in the way a lil bit...

  • did this today while on car very helpful other side tomorrow cheers for help

  • @h34th1986 awesome man, glad to hear this helped you out...

  • Thnkx man! tomorrow ill try to replace my covoc 94s for the energys ones!! very helpful

  • @micagas FYI: prepare to be frustrated...

when reinstalling bushings with Energy Suspension or Prothane it is way harder...

due to the rubber hanging over the bushing it softens the hammer blows and will take even longer to get them back in... i just did Energy Suspension RTA bushings on my 92' a few weeks ago and i had to take it a bit further than my video shows...

i took everything apart the same way but i also had to remove the brake hoses to lay the arms flat... hope this helps...

  • thanx man really helpful!!!

  • Thanks guy, very helpful!

  • How heavy is your hammer?

  • @rodan233 about 2lbs

  • Thanx man. Yesterday I noticed mine were completely shot. This wil save me money to put towards new shocks.

  • thanks for video, ignore these negative comments.

  • is there any risk that the new bushings might fit a bit loosely into the trailing arm from the old ones being popped in and out? thanks

  • @g123k no... they will be just as tight as if they were in from the factory, as long as you hammer them in all the way...

  • great video man, im sure this DIY will help lots of people. Dont listen to the haters and the rude people that say things about your weight.

    thanks man

  • nice video a lot of help thanks

  • thank you very much was working on the gf's honda and wasn't sure if the hole for the bushing was tapered on one side, saved me tons of time thanks again

  • i tried this and failed idk what the fuck to do now. i dont have money to have someone press them or buy a expensive as tool.

  • @skaterboy520c Drill it out, then use a hacksaw or burn the rubber.

  • Thanks brother , you helped me so much. My daughter got t-boned yesterday and I spent all day trying to get this off because it bent bot control arms and messed up the bushing . I am having trouble getting the bottom bolt out.

  • u made it very ez for me..i did it with the arm still in car and u helped me out..all i got from stor was that brass hammer..very good tool...thanks 4doorlife

  • Ale dziod

  • Nice diy man! But i already knew how to do these though!

    good job!

Just sent you a mail regarding an issue.

    regards!

  • Thanks! My bushings are FUKT!

  • Thanks for this - it worked a treat - just a bit more bashing because of the give in the front bushing bit thingy - and not being clamped in a vice (-: Cheers Brian

  • Fourms for D-Bags that can't afford a good swap and Mods that work at McDonald's that think there shit box rusty crx is cool if you own a Honda don't go on this forum its a joke

  • @Broten987

you are welcome to your opinion, i however disagree...

  • Ok question...How you gonna take the whole trailing arm out without taking out the Toe bolt? It's impossible on a 92 Civic anyway. I'm currently working on replacing the Bushings & there's no other bolt beyond the Toe bolt leading to the front.

Also..to get the whole trailing arm out..you have to disconnect the brake line(brake fluid) & the emergency brake line. Why didn't he include that in there? Because if you d/c the brake line that means you have to BLEED the line afterwards.

  • Ummm...Do I really need to take the whole trailing arm off the car? I can understand you need some space to hammer but i don't have anything to hold that arm down when I get it off & use the hammer like you do.

  • nice.... very low-budget-efficient :)

  • thanks for the info. def doing this next week!

  • top man!

  • awesome vid. now i know how to change it.

  • Thanks for sharing! Great D.I.Y. I need to do this soon so this was extremely helpful :D

  • damn is it that easy or did you take it out a couple times before shooting the clip? you made it look so easy. almost as if the bushing is not even safe.

  • Haha, I couldn't figure out why the back end of my hatch was steering wherever it wanted to, like one of those long firetrucks, but sure enough, these pesky bushings are shot. I'm gonna give your method a try once I get some OEM bushings! Thanks man!

  • Cool, getting the missus coupe done the weekend, get rid of that annoying squeak and clunk. Thanks

  • Where to buy the rear trailing arm bushing??

  • Very helpful video. You really explain everything thats needed to do the bushing.

    Thank you!

  • do you need to take the axle off or lift the car or can i just do it from the ground ?

  • @ZachMitch1994 uhmm...civics or acura's are fwd...not rwd there arent axles there are hubs.

  • How easy do you think it would be for 91 crx si. ive got to replace mine but i dont want to have someone do it. also worried if it may be frozen in place cuz of rust. let me know what you think. Thanks, good vid too by the way

  • Thanks, plan on doing mine myself.

  • Nice vid, thanks for the info.

  • hey thanks for posting this video, it really helps to know those tips about the direction of the bushing. i didn't know this the first time i did my bushings.

    Great video!

  • @MiloReaper MILO!!!!! whats goin on brother..?

ya, you may have to use BIG hammer/sledge to knock out the old ones lol

but really, you dont need a lot of force, just good solid hits will do it...

  • thanks for the diy! I was planning on ordering the whole rear trailing arm from a junkyard but just ordered the bushing and did this myself. A great help.

  • wow.that looks super easy. i hope when i try it will be as easy.

  • ok. i got anxious and tried it. i had a tiny claw hammer and banged the hell outta it. done!

    thanks for the vid!

  • the tool is made to replace the trailing arm bushing while the trailing arm is still on the car. removing and reinstailing the trailing arms from the car is the hard part.

for the "DIY" folks reading this our knowledgelable instructor forgot to mention it is nessecery to remove the e-brake cables as well.

  • well that looked alot easier than everyone said it would be! ill be doing this as soon as mine come in the mail and hopefully i can do it just as easily

  • DOes anyone kno how to get the whole arm off like that the lower arm and bolts are easy but the breaks? how do you get the e brake off? so i can put it on a vice like yoU!

  • great method,

when i replaced my rt bushings i got the idea of using a wheel bearing locknut socket to knock the rt bushing out...so what i did was put the trailing arm bushing over the hole of a cinder block, placed the socket over the bushing, hit the socket until the bushing popped out and then just hit the new bearing in the same way....worked great since the socket was the same diameter as the bushings housing.

  • thank you so much! you save me $450.00
