  • You ruined a perfectly good absinthe kit. you used smirnoff, SMIRNOFF!?!? to make a decent absinthe you need to use an alcohol with at least 170 proof, most of the "true absinthe" you find uses 190 proof.

  • looks good. can i use the herbs with milk?

  • Incidently, how much does s kit like that cost?

  • real abstinthe , they make a mash with vodka make from a pot still and wormwood and fennel and many other things usually and distill it , ive heard of people filling the column 's with herbs also . this is basicly just a cordial .. or a mulled drink . not real abstinthe but still cool

  • the ''hallucinatoring'' effects of absinthe are caused by the combination of wormwood (thujone) and a high alcohol rate, it has nothing to do with which kind of alcohol you pick or what the recipe is of the liquor.

so... grow your own absinthe plant (artemisia absinthium), ad a high alcohol rate, some green colours, and you have practically a liquor with the same effects ;)

  • Ew... It looks like swamp water.

  • What is the title and artist of the track playing in the background??

  • Yea absynthe needs to be distilled, this is a absynthe style extract. Also you should be using everclear, not 50% alcohol, more like 80-90% alcohol.

  • What the Fuck?...Wrong-Wrong-Everything Wrong!!!....This is NOT Absinthe!!This is SHIT

  • This disgusting swill is not absinthe. Just a bullshit novelty for desperate frat parties. Real absinthe was never set on fire, that was invented by the Czechs in the 1990s to cover up the foul taste of their budget drink marketed as absinthe. Try a real distilled French or Swiss absinthe, you'll never drink this crap again.

  • well real abisnthe is distilled from wormwood (artemisia absinthium) and thats not hard 2 do either.....if u distill it urself u risk getting bad-quality alcohol

  • First, this should never be called "absinthe", but only "wormwood flavoured vodka".

This sort of brevage was called "absinthoïde" (fake absinthe) in the old ages.

Try distilled french or swiss absinthe, you'll never drink this shit again.

Second, and not the least, absinthe should never be flamed!!!

Put absinthe in the glass, then the spoon with the sugar, and slowly poor iced water over the sugar.

This is the only historical ritual.

Flaming is nonsense, as it burns alcohol.

  • THIS IS NOT ABSINTHE. This is SWILL. if you paid for this, you were ripped off and may have actually put your health at risk.

These kits are pretty much the same thing as Bathtub Gin, just with different herbs.

  • sweet video, bought the set in holy hollandia, will try this soon, let you know :)

  • what name this music?

  • Bull Shit !

  • Oh my God!

    This is not absinthe!

This is a Brown herbs tinktur!

I need Pernod fondée 1805 en Paris, this is Absinthe !!!

    Good Luck! :-D

  • Absinthe kits yield a harsh substance that bears little resemblance to the genuine article, and is considered to be inauthentic by any practical standard. Some concoctions may even be dangerous, especially if they call for supplementation with potentially poisonous herbs, oils and/or extracts. Of particular concern is the use of the extract or oil of wormwood in a misguided attempt to induce alleged psychoactive effects.

  • This is absolutely a horrendous thing to do. Also burning the sugar/Absinthe is another modern day invention by the Czech's that would kill any aromatic herb flavor in a real Absinthe (which this is not).

  • the music is really relaxing

  • this is not absinthe....you can only distil absinthe not brew...this is just alcohol with chemical aromas...it doesn't louche at all...and if you ever prepare a glass of real absinthe forget the fire...stop putting this shit telling people it's real absinthe to sell your crap....

  • Sorry but you are wrong , first of all the absinthe which is distil is modern absinthe with out psychotropic effects the one he is showing might be with psychotropic effects at least the original absinthe was . And the reason why modern absinthe is without psychotropic is because in many countries is illigal ! but I think Amsterdam is one of few where is the real absinthe with psychotropic effects .

  • @DarkAniseScent actually you're wrong absinthe can be brewed or distilled, its actually better if its brewed. the reason the drink in the video isnt true absinthe is, 1) the used smirnoff which has to low of a proof to use for absinthe. and 2) the type of wormwood isnt right, it doesnt contain Thujone, the natural chemical in wormwood that produces the psychotropic effect absinthe is known for. I make 3-5 gallons of true absinthe every couple months. So if YOU ever produce true absinthe let me

  • @DarkAniseScent know and we can compare product, but until then quit talking as if you know what you're saying! Of course the drink in the video isnt real absinthe, its a close approximation of it because its a fucking kit so naturally its not going to be anything near the real thing! I may be young but my entire family has been in this bussines for 12 generations.

  • i have some absinth back home , a guy gave me a litlle bag a few years ago ... is it still usable ?

  • whats with the sugar part? and how does this get you drunker than plain alcohol?

  • For one thing, thujone is supposed to make it have a different effect on you. For another, it has a very high alcohol content (most commercial brands are 140 proof at least).

  • so its like moonshine? does it burn when you drink it?

  • Not usually

  • so its smooth but highly alcoholic? i like that idea but whats the catch? does it cause the runs er sumthin lol

  • When it was banned it was believed that it contained hallucinogens and could cause insanity. It is now known that this is false, though some brands contain an unsafe level of thujone, a chemical which can cause muscular spasms.

  • so its highly alcoholic and doesnt burn but might me trip balls?

  • Only one way to find out

  • yeeeeah id rather not

  • what does absinthe actually do, like alchoholic drink?, or what (moonshine)?

  • Same like Alcohol and sometimes hallucinations^^

  • i hear you just get fucked up

  • yeahh, its more of a body buzz kind of drunk than it is a sloppy stumbly drunk. Its almost compairible to a mild magic mushroom buzz.... When i had two bottles from europe, they definatly gave me some of the best drunks I have had... not that much of a hang over either actually.

  • Hah love the music lol

  • my goodness

got me runnin like a horse over here its been ages since ive had that

  • i will not try because your absinth is not distill, buy a real absinth from france.

  • That's basically how real absinthe is made, steeping all the herbs in a neutral alcohol, except the real stuff is distilled after, that's why this stuff is murky looking cause it's not actually distilled in the final phase, so it still contains all the inpurities from the herbs

  • yak that looks like diarrhea

and i think it tastes like it

it called the green fairy and not the shit fairy

    that kit is bullshit

  • wrong sir.. Absinth ranges from a light brown to a bright green. Iv bought absinthe that looked liike murkey diry water after it was properly mixed. Still the same drink though.

  • yak that looks

  • looks like a drug kit xD

  • Burning the sugar is a "traditional method" that has been invented by the 'new' Absynthe makers in the 90s...

  • Don't beieve this crap, it's not the good recipe.

We don't use vodka but pure 70 or 90° alcohol from pharmacy.

Almost the same recipe as RICARD or PASTIS.

This Kit is bullshit.Only the herbs are real, you get something close to absynth but it is not the real deal.

  • You're right: this kit is bullshit - and the flambé method is even worse.. :-S

Kubler, Mansinthe and Lucid are of course true absinthe, but for me the (very) best are the Jade PF1901, Edouard and Verte Suisse.

N.B. True absinthe MUST be distilled, otherwise (true) artemisia absinthium is too bitter and undrinkable!

  • "Kubler, Mansinthe and Lucid are of course true absinthe"

Nope, cheap copies made by hacks.

  • @FabriceFr What the FUCK???? Alcohol from the pharmacy? As in Ethyl or SD alcohol? The type that promotes internal hemorrhaging?? Do you have scrambled eggs for brains?

  • @Joysquigglesparkles "internal hemorrhaging" lol We use alcohol to make "ricard" or "Pastis" which is the same kind of alcohol as absynthe.

Here in france we call this alcohol: "alcohol à 90" or "à 70" the alcohol is so strong < that's why people put water in their pastis (or ricard)

Get the real deal in Swiss, Portugal or spain, there 's a lot of country where it's legal, not always the original recipe, sometime slightly modified, but not that crap from azarius.

    My brain is fine BTW

  • @Joysquigglesparkles In exemple, to make pastis we need half a liter of 90° alcohol, half a liter of water, anethol, and anis, some sugar, and reglisse.

In USA most of people use 40-45° alcohol.

Alcohol is bad for the health, and can kill your liver first.

  • NOT HOW YOU MAKE ABSINTHE. This was a handy video on how to do it wrong.

  • oh and this whole time i really thought this was a soup

  • mate, i'm curious. does the alcohol % of the drink increase over time or does it just stay constant, having the same alchohol % of the vodka used. thanks.

  • lucid & kubler are shitty absinthe...yor better off ordering absinthe online from over seas

  • Kubler is not shitty absinthe sorry to burst your bubble, heh u probly drink that Czech swill

  • Why make this cheap illegal crap when u can get the REAL stuff in the U.S. now, if you want some good stuff that now available in the U.S. go to your local liquor store and pick up a bottle of Kubler.

  • 1)It's not cheap illigal crap, it just contains the absinthe ingredients.

    2) It's not possible in every country to get good absinthe in the liquor store, so for those people this is a good alternative.

3)It's just nice to do make your own absinthe, kind of rewarding to take a glass after all the hard work you've done.

  • It may be an alternative for those who cannot get traditionally real absinthe, but it isnt the same, and it is illegal in the U.S. to make even though you arent distilling it

  • It's illegal to make ANYTHING in the US if the gov isn't getting a cut off of ur profits. Also the absinthe that is sold in the US is NOTHING like it is over seas. I'm glad they have Lucid here (finally) but it still isn't the real stuff. To tell ya the truth I would rather make it myself in my basement and then enjoy a glass of something I created.

  • HAHAHAHA you are funny as fuck, Lucid isnt real absinthe, hahaha. All the stuff that is comming from over seas is REAL absinthe, Kubler=real no change at all to the original Swiss version, La Fee=real no change to the original version, Mansinthe which is comming here real no change to Swiss recipe, u need to do some research on REAL absinthe b4 making retarded remarks. WE HAVE THE SAME LAWS AS EUROPE UP TO 10MG/L OF THUJONE, THE ONLY EXCEPTION IS THE AMER LAW IN WHICH THEY ARE ALLOWED 35MG/L

  • WHICH DONT MAKE A DIFFERENCE ANYWAY BECAUSE THUJONE CONTENT DOES NOT MAKE AN ABSINTHE BETTER its the quality of herbs, and still soaking herbs in some cheap grain alcohol or vodka DOES NOT MAKE ABSINTHE IT HAS TO BE DISTILLED

  • You are NOT making absinthe in your basement, all you are basically doing is the coloring step, AFTER what REAL absinthe DISTILLERS do AFTER they DISTILL the herbs

  • WOW, look who gets a little touchy about the subject. I think u need to get laid dude =P

  • hahaha stupidity pisses me off

  • And I think arrogance Is a sign of inner weakness.

  • well thats fine, but i wasnt being arrogant at all just proving a point that mixing herbs in vodka is not making absinthe, there is plenty of info out there if people look, its that simple

  • its kind of like saying 1+1=3. Or like saying counting cards in Vegas is illegal, which is amazing people do think that but simple research says it is not illegal

  • Dude, you are funny. Send me some of the research u have found cuz I'm STILL trying to figure out what all the hype is about with this stuff. I've had it multiple different ways. All that I know was, I got fucked up with a nasty taste in my mouth. The ones I had from over seas (smuggled back) felt stronger. So if you could tell me the best way to have it and the best brand I would appreciate it.

  • @azariustv absinthe is illegal in US. the real absinthe is... the absinthe in US. is not the same, the real one is like a drug, and this is just alcohol.

  • @azariustv 1) The result of the maceration would be illegal to sell in most countries.

    2) It's not an alternative, since it tastes like soil juice mixed with Lucifer's pee.

Ouzo, Pernod and pastis are the alternatives, since at least they resemble to absinthe.

    3) It's just nice not to abuse public ignorance about absinthe and sell people the most unpalatable drink ever. I'm not quite sure you yourself dared to taste it.

  • @azariustv 1) it is cheap...you use smirnoff=shit...your herbs are fucking gross as fuck looking...you didn't distill it...nuff said but i will continue

2)it doesn't matter distill your own if it not available or drink something else...it is fucking brown!

    3) hardwork my ass...you fucking poured stirred let it sit...big fuckin deal...if that is hard work...you are lazy as fuck

  • @angryGTS because manufactured absinthe legally has to contain 10 percent or less thujone.

  • @angryGTS

Because its expensive as all hell and some of us want a good buzz but don't have a hundred dollars to shell out.

  • damn this is sweet
