I've given up working out why some make it and some don't. I've heard them all and Judee Sill is definitely in the upper echelon. The music is accomplished and the words are profound, achieving a kind of grace, really. I've always felt that she had a transcendent quality that was completely genuine, and maybe that was why she just fell foul of a reality that was always well short of the ideal. It certainly sets her apart. I've always found Judee Sill's otherworldly quality to be uplifting.
The Captain Beefheart email list pointed me to a web page, (Dangerous Minds) where a man held up her 1st album. I fergit waht he said - but I saw her and I said "I need to know herl" And ordered the ABRAHADABRA 2 cd. set. from AMAZON. Now I and wondering wither to get that 2 CD of her 3rd and last album (poor reviews) or the BBC cd (glowing) . But She has a place in a pureland like no other. PS (overdose may not be suicide, she had chronic spinal pain from an accident)
Thanks for video, I recorded this myself on tv lately and this comes from singer- songwriters at the BBC, but originally from The Old Grey Whistle Test in 1974 when Judee recorded The Pearl and The Kiss on the same night. I remember and loved it then and still love it. I bought Judee's first 2 albums and then she seemed to fade away and I forgot all about her till a year ago when I was wondering what she was doing now, only to find out about her sad death. What a sad loss...
@cafeman21 I totally agree. What a sad loss of a great singer/songwriter. Unfortunately I have only recently come accross such great singers of the past through recording s of BBC Old Grey Whistle Test archives. In essence she was, as her song title says.. a Pearl.
The first of Judee's songs I heard back in 1974-just as I remembered, beautiful. How wonderful to see her expressians as she sang.Sadly,I never saw her in concert or on TV until now( thank you YouTube!).
@bensisko16 Many thanks for posting this video, I enjoyed it so much.Where did you find this gem?Who introduced you to Judee? I will look for more of your videos. Thanks again!
@VARTANgirl Hi, Thank you for subscribing to my Channel. Yes, this is a Gem, Judee was so talented but unfortunately i was never introduced to Judee, but I do like her music. I recorded this video from the BBC about three weeks ago but it was the only clip of Judee in the series. I uploaded all the other videos to my channel from the four series. I will keep an eye out for any archive material and duly upload. best wishes Cheers.
I think I'm in love with this woman.

She was one of the most original Singer Songwriters. Ended with her suicide. Bit the quality of her output is still unique and unsurpassed.
