@rsdouglass4 It's a simple deal , Saudi provides oil and buys dollars,and the US makes sure the Saudi regime doesn't get toppled over.

It's not in Saudi citizen interests to prop up US consumers but it is in Saudi regime and all their friends interests.

unfortunately, if you don't toe the line on the official current paradigm in school - if society says it is wrong - then you don't get the grades. So while they are very intelligent, their point of view alone, no matter how good, would do little to get them respect. This is very important, and why we have a world full of people doing the same silly things.

who knows. I do know that in the near future any currency will be better then the worthless green backs.

But if it's paper that replaces the dollar it will be just as worthless. The temptation to inflate is always there.

What I fear is a central monetary bank of the world. I've heard a little about it but basically a world paper currency would replace the new dollar as the world's reserve currency.

havn't they already started trading in a standard between banks and investments, essentially a more valuable currency exclusive to the banks and probably a precursor (or precedent) to world currency? I can't remember it's name since I've heard it mentioned once or twice.

Liam: I fear that is what might happen. Islamic Sharia Law actually calls for a gold-based economy. I fear the banking failures in the West is goig t to be seen as a vindication by the Isalmists.
