It is too bad. This could have been a great movie. But no, Hollywood had to dumb down the Iliad, watering its themes down into pathetic childish conflict between the egos of the main warriors and kings. The story is about how the gods manipulated men and how men tried or failed to keep their honor despite that. Why that couldn't have been portrayed is beyond me. People are smart enough to understand that. There is a reason the Iliad was the master narrative of ancient Greece and is still read.
Many people don't know that the reason Achilles was such a badass is because as a baby he was dumped in the River Styx and gained super human speed, faster reflexes, more strength than a normal human. When he killed the big guy he was moving at lighting speed thats why he got him as good he did no man can move as fast as he does.

Well the movie didn't show how the legend of him really was. In the battlefield, when the troyan knew achilles was fighting they run away in fear, than many of them got dead themselves fleeing. Achilles was a true demon accounting more than 100 kills. But this is an exageration of the proper Odissey story. We all know Achilles was a man, and, as many of the other war heroes, texts are overwhelm with stuff they may not accomplish.

@53prime Deal with it. This movie is based on ancient greek history. Achilles died during the sack of Troy. At least they didn't follow the mythology of Achilles where he is a bisexual (according to Shakespeare) demi-god and is indestructable and whose only weakness is his heel.
