Michael Fassbender as supporting actor? HE is the leading actor in "A dangerous method", not Viggo Mortensen! And in any case, he deserves a nomination - and an Oscar for sure - for "Shame".
so im not the only one who thinks michael shannon (take shelter) was the most groundbreadking performance this year? but sadly they'll over look this because he's not a house hold name, doesnt have a hollywood ego and prefers to star in character driven films instead. another crazy thing is i want andy serkis to win best support actor for rise of the planet of the apes.
@Glaswegianmark - Michael Shannon is amazing! and he's been in quite a lot of movies already... "Bug" and "Revolutionary Road" are two in which he's been awesome....esp. the former... yes, although i haven't seen "Take Shelter", I already know he's gonna be at the best of his game in this one... rooting for the big 3... Gosling, Fassbender and Shannon and George Clooney looks pretty impressive in "The Descendants"... all in all, i really want Gosling to win though lolz...
you know i forgot all about tom hardy's performance in that cage fighting film. he was amazing and so was nick nolte mabye not so much for anakan skywalkers foster dad lol. too many good performers this year
@Glaswegianmark- the movie was a tearjerker... and because of Tom Hardy's brilliant performance and also because this IS Oscar bait (emotionally drenched characters and an "up and down" and "down and up" plot)... i loved the movie... but artistically, it's way behind the likes of "Drive" and "Take Shelter" (which i haven't seen, i repeat but i damn well will vouch for a nomination for Mr. Crazyeyed Shannon!
i agree completely with you. Drive was a surprise to me. i thought I'd see some adrenaline fuelled action film and thought it was a rip off from the GTA/Driver games and Bullit but after seeing it i found it amazing and nothing like what i expected. It was a brilliant character story dripped in Da Vinci's Artistic paint bucket. Amazing film.
@Glaswegianmark - DRIVE is already in all-time fave movies list... yes, u put that well- "a brilliant character study dripped in Da Vinci's Artistic paint bucket." Up there with De Niro in "Taxi Driver"... Ryan Gosling, uberhip soundtrack, toothpicks and awesome knives and a brilliant ending!!! Oscarwise, Albert Brooks might also be considered for a nom... watchathink???
your from nepal? cool we got a few napalese men in my army regiment. but hollywood and the academy only base their votes on box office results and big known moviestars. they've lost their touch.
now take shelter was about a man (shannon who i also think deserved an award for machinegun preacher) who has apocolyptic dreams. It's really about (might just be me who thinks this) the US economy and people in a state of panic and deppression about the ongoing reccession (you lose a job and you'll not get another one and everyone is living on bank loans) next time you watch the trailer or film and when you see the weird shaped cloud, look at it upsie down and u get a Tsunami
@Glaswegianmark - damn, now i wanna see the movie more than ever... u see, i live in Nepal and we don't get to watch these movies here!!! we gotta wait for the DVDs... and this one, i fervently look forward to! "Shame" and "Take Shelter" i really wanna see asap!!! But dude, I'll tell u, I hated the APE movie though yes, Andy Serkis deserves something... but i am not rooting for him... i'm thinking Peter O'Toole in "Beginners" might grab that one! or Nick Nolte who is always good!
lol sean penn :)) you're funny
