@crazyexstacy actually i don't think anyone asked. but it's just me, no one special. i had this worthless clip that i just stretched out to this huge length and i was like "great now what's a GOOD song i can use?" and i remembered this song. a couple cuts later, and this existed.

you can tell that billy just wanted to say everything he could and wanted to in this song...it's so repetitious and long.. but, for example there's no "repeating chorus"...know what I mean? It's just 6 minutes and 40 seconds of him divulging his thoughts.

that's what struck me as so strange about this song at first, but you're right, and i love it.

i also really am fond of the very last chorus "I hope for resolution" and so on because of how, even though it fits, it's melodically different from the other verses.

So Beautiful. The Pumpkins have always pissed me off with their "hit and miss". I have been a fan since Gish (Rhinoceros my fave) but they have a lot of stuff I just can't listen to, to gay or slow or forced. Then they have THIS as a b-side as one of the most beautiful pieces of poetry and musically inspired. Hard to believe that only ONE guy writes it all, Billy must be bi-polar. This song is too good to have been written by a human. It's like it was channeled or something. Probably like 33, when Billy tuned his acoustic to a rare old country-type tuning. After strumming some basics chords, seeing what melodies grabbed him, he was suddenly struck by one of those epiphanies that seem strike him so often. Next, he said the words just "literally fell out of me" & that the entire thing was written in like 30 minutes or so. Lyrics, music, structure. It just 'came to him.'

the only album you can buy it on is "Judas-Ø" which was the bonus disc to Rotten Apples, the Greatest Hits album from 2001 that was released after the initial break-up.

so, yeah, it wasn't too well known. but it's amazing.

Well I agree that the old stuff is a hell of a lot better, but still, I'm just happy they're back making music again. I was too young when they were touring in the original band, so I'm glad they're back around so i can catch them now. And while Zeitgiest was far from their best album, they still have time to set the world alight with their music again, and i have faith in Billy and Jimmy to do that. Maybe I'm the only one, but still, I'm optimistic about it

Um, it doesnt matter who is in the smashing pumpkins. Billy Corgan makes and does everything concerning the songs and music. The bandmates are really only there for tours. Except for jimmy, billy needs an amazing drummer to make the songs great.

I've noticed that a lot of Pumpkins fans have commented that since SP reunited, it's not the same as it used to be. I think that every song all the way from "She" to "Stellar" has had a certain emotional element. Yes, it's disappointing that James and D'arcy didn't come back, but, as the old saying goes, "The music must go on." I think, in the long run, he doesn't need them. As long as he has Jimmy on board, SP will have everything they need to carry on.
