Woah!! Hold the phone! Is the song in the begining of the video the "Piano Duet" song from the movie Corps Bride? :O ...I love this video 10x more now....It probably says so in the credits but I'm too lazy to go look for it... ( < Typical American behavior, huh? )
Being from Minnesota I feel like my state is kind of like Canada in some ways, from the being nice, to the cold winters and hot summers, I hope to one day visit Canada and see just what an amazing country it is. Happy late Canada day ( way late).
Yeyy!!! GO CANADA PIS LE QUÉBEC!!! I really understand Ina-chan's comment about moving to Canada. I'll always be a part of my homeland, of course, but I'm proud to call myself Canadian. Cuz people in Canada really accept your culture and values, and try to take the best of every culture and put it all together in one big heap of Canadian awesomeness! And also; dun diss the poutine, its not a heart attack on a plate! I live in Québec and I'm fine :D and if im not, free healthcare to the rescue XD
My Dad lives in Seattle, which is the closest to Canada I've ever been. (Well actually Anacortes would be the closest but whatev.) I live in Virginia and am honestly ashamed of what America has become and is becoming. The politicians are proving to be greedy idiots, the people here almost terrify me in more ways than one, and what we've done to the natives (even now) is horrible.
It's sad that there's really only few things I can be proud of for my country. Maybe one day I can move to Canada =)
We didn't get to hear the opinion of the person who voice acts England on this. I understand he may not consider himself a Canadian because he was born and raised in England and stuff but it would be interesting to hear his opinion. :)
Oh man, I watched this and started crying. I can especially relate to Ina-chan's comments on being a first-gen. I'll always have affection for my homeland but Canada is really where my heart is.
Oh man, I watched this and started crying. I can especially relate to Ina-chan's comments on being a first-gen. I'll always have affection for my homeland but Canada is really where my heart is.
I almost moved to Vancouver.... but my parents decided to move to North Carolina instead... now that i have started watching your vids.... i wish i was Canadian :(
I wish I was there at Anime North for that part of the panel. As soon as I heard it said that someone asked it, my first thought was: "To be a Canadian is to be someone who is proud of where they live, and where they came from. To be Canadian is to be strangely polite to people, and say sorry at strange times. A sense of camaraderie, in moments like winning Olympic Gold in Vancouver. How something so small like Timmies can make us smile (Or kill us at Roll Up time). That is a Canadian to me."
Poutine is like a heart attack on a plate? Now I want it even more! T-T
Honestly I call myself a Canadian, but nobody here cares! They don't believe me, cause I'm the most german person you can find. All my relatives are german, I'm livin in Germany, but I have a goal. I want to live in Canada! And then I'll be a Canadian!
The thing I love most about my country is our diversity and exceptance. The fact that there are so few things that define us all just proves that. It's eneffable really. I love the fact that were so good humoured and have a rep for being polite and nice. There's no way I could define being Canadian in a small youtube comment though.
I'm actually on my way to the anual multicultural festival now~ I hope everyone had a wonderful Canada day!
Canada Day to me is a whole day day dedicated to those wonderful moments we all have from time to time, all through the year, when we stop, look around, smile to ourselves, and think "damn this place is awesome".
I am so proud and happy to be Canadian. I would not trade my life here in Canada for all the money and things in the world. I love it here, though it is FREEZING here in Alberta in the winter but I would never give up my home.
Thank you for another wonderful I am Mathewian installment.
I think it's hard to define what "being Canadian" means to people. To me there's just so much to it. It's security, stability, freedom of choice, tolerance, and the ability to encourage change without violence. It's totally unique; there are ethnic groups at war with each other all over the world, yet in Canada they live as neighbours.
lol, there's so much more I could say as well, but youtube only gives you so many characters to write with. ^^;
To me, a Canadian is someone who adapts the Canadian culture. A Canadian is unique from their religion, race, sex, and beliefs. A Canadian is someone who chooses as their right from rewards to consequences, good times and bad.
To me being a Canadian is that I have the freedom to choose and to live with others who are different to me, and yet we come together as a family, friend, community, and a nation.
I love being Canadian! This morning I got up and yelled a 'happy birthday' to Canada and Hong Kong.
I may have gotten strange looks but it's worth it!
For me, being Canadian is being able to make my own decisions. It's being able to be proud of who I am and being able to say I'm from one of the most openminded countries out there! We have so many rights here and I'm proud to have been born here!
Great video, guys. I'll be watching fireworks tonight. Grab the maple syrup, Tim's, and Tragically Hip, because tonight is going to be one hell of a birthday party.
I maybe an American, but i do consider myself to be a Canadian. Most of my family lives there too! What it means it be a Canadian means to be kind to other cultures with open arms. Sure, other countries *cough England cough* might confuse you for Americans, but we can see the difference. Ton Annversaire, au Canada~
Everyone enjoy your panckakes and mapples sirop, eat a lot of back bacon, wear red bunnyhug and wave proudly your Canadian flag everywhere. Because we're proud to be CANADIAN! (or Matthewian it's depends)
This is why even thoughI live about 400 miles from the border, I identify myself as a "future canadian". Because I know that one day in the future I will not be the only one who knows how special today is, I won't be the one willing to order imported tim hortons ground coffee(and it is really expensive... I only get it for my birthday and stuff), the only one who likes hockey, or the one who knows every providence. One day, I will be able to say that I'm canadian too.
I really love this country, and I feel blessed to be born here. While everyone around me was ignoring the day, or celebrating Hong Kong Day (which I was too) I was singing all the Canada-related songs I've heard from the IamMatthewian videos, mostly "Canada is Really Big".
Ohhhhh yeaaaaa~ we all know what this means! Time to crack out the red an White colours, chips, pop, and for me to head on down to the Victoria Harbour to watch FIREWORKS~!
I'm American. <.< A telemarketer called and said "Happy 4th of July" and I told her "This is July 1st. It's Canada Day." .....she didn't know what to say. xD
HAPPY CANADA DAY! Ahhh~ Gloomy weather here in Manny atm. Buuut, I hope the fireworks will be still going on but I just wanna go down to the Forks and celebrate the day there. Rain or not. Sickness or not! /Sneeze
Oh boy. Anyways! Uwaah... Happy Canaday Day, again. Where ever you people are, however you people are celebratin' the day, don't forget about why we celebrate today, alright?
Happy Canada Day!! Hopefully this year my family will bother to do something to celebrate. XD;; It was a much bigger deal to celebrate Canada Day when we lived in the States. XD;;
I could have said a lot more on the subject since I think about it all the time, but I think being Canadian is a lot like the personifications we have here- everyone sees and experiences them differently, and they are the manifestation of all of those thoughts and ideas. X3
For me, who's Grandmother and Great Grandmother and Great Grandmother before my Great Grandmother (Ha! Okay I'll stop) Canada Day and being Canadian means being proud of everything my Ancestors did before me in shaping the art, History and culture into the comfy place I call home now! I love my ancestral home of Canada and any American who says Canada is just a waste of Space or other things like that get's an enraged me chewing on their head (this happened once in a forum of mine..don't ask.)

I'm proud to consider myself Canadian. Although I was born in America and have lived here all my life, both sides of my family have Canadian roots (Nova Scotia ftw!), and goddammit, I'm proud of those roots!
Awesome video guys!! Now what it means to be canadian to me is kind of hard to answer. I think for me it means being a country that is a culturaly diverse that encourages people to accept others for who they are and what they believe in. Also, for me it also means to be proud to wear the canadian flag on you(clothes,etc) when you travel to other places.
