  • the turbo is way faster than the GT3RS, but round the track it will be different, as they GT3 is built for the track. Lovely cars.

  • I've seen GTR3.. fucking sexy.. even though it was in a parking lot standing.. still.. very nice car

  • i dont think the turbo could blow the gt3rs away by that much i think the gt3 fucked up a shift or something at 30 seconds

  • Damm i rly wanna buy a used one of those but i don't know which one!

  • The much lighter 997.2 GT3 RS with 450 HP is faster than the 997.1 480 HP Turbo in a straight line officially. However, the 997.2 turbo is quicker in a straight line with 500 HP. The 997.2 GT3 RS is a officially 6 seconds faster. Remember Walter himself said he would never take the turbo over the GT3 when it comes to track racing.

    Porsche 997.2 GT3 RS (450 HP) Nurburgring: 7:32

    Porsche 997.2 Turbo (500 HP) Nurburgring: 7:38

  • sinnloses video, sieger ist vorprogrammiert...

  • Damn, Porsche wasn't joking when they claim the turbo as their flagship. I guess it is worth the bigger price tag.

  • teneis subir videos del nuevo turbo y el nuevo gt3 rs

  • On the stright line turbo is faster it's not a GT3's driver bad driving. GT3 is not a drag car..put the turbo on the track against the GT3 RS and the turbo will lose

  • It also depend on the track.

  • @SWENWAR actually do the same time on nordschleife... (997 MKI Both)

  • in the right hands, the rs could be faster around the track. because it is designed to be agile and with better handling. otherwise it cant come close to the turbo

  • Im sure that GT3 rs was just unlucky.....however, I like both!!!

  • Turbo maybe faster on a straight line but GT3 is a track car. Who cars how fast you go in a straight line.

  • obviously m5board cares about how fast you go in a straight line, as does the rest of world, otherwise every sports car would be a lotus

  • I would take the rs anyday.

  • maybe turbo is better on the straight... but I would rather have GT

  • don't fuck with 911 turbo's.

  • No way, the RD is a snail!!!!! mmmm

  • you guys keep saying the gt3 is faster around the track then the turbo. I would Really like to see the proof of a 997 gt3 faster then a 997 turbo

    thanks

  • really depends on the track

  • You obviously don't know much about Porsche's if you fail to believe that a 997 GT3 RS is faster than a 997 Turbo around a track.

Just do some research yourself and you will find out. The GT3 RS is a close as a race car as you can get. The Turbo is a Grand Touring car.

  • AGAIN. I didnt say it wasnt. I just wanna c proof. Your comment was useless.

So if you dont have proof dont respond with dumb shit

  • check out the TOP GEAR track times, even though the 911 turbo has a fast 0-60 the GT3 is lighter and has a better racing suspension geometry. Just because a car has a better 0-60 time doesnt automatically translate to an awesome lap time, otherwise the Veyon would be king of the track, or a 4000hp rail car for that matter. Question is, would porsche turbo the GT3 upon request? That would be my ultimate car If I won the lottery.

  • porsche has already done that. it is the gt2 itself..

  • Would Porsche turbo the GT3 upon request? Haha...spoken like a true 14 yr old. You think just slapping on a turbo would do the trick, and they could leave the rest of the car intact? I guess you don't realize if they did do that, it would cease to be a GT3.

  • u know they seen the fast and the furious. Dont forget the nos lol

  • it is called the gt2 lol...nah, I dont think so, but the gt2 is the combination of the turbo and gt3...you get comfort, luxuries...but amazing raw power from twin turbos and aggresive sport look....you also get the combination of the price however loll...:(

  • I would still rather the GT3 RS, the normal gt2, gt3 and 911 turbos are rather a common sight around here.

  • just look at the nurburgring timings

  • well i was thinking like u too but nt after having driven a gt3 lol i now agree GT3 is faster than turbo on track..no turbo lag..the chasis is track tuned..it revs more thats a big advantage on gearing.

  • yeah after doing some searching the gt3 is faster on the track. Now that i think about it i wouldnt mind having one

  • definitely something wrong, gts is nt that slow, also if u c gt3rs vs rs6, u c gt3 was a very good match,so i wanna ask u gustav, what went wrong here !

  • Comment removed

  • Gustav... No video of RS versus C2S PDK ?

  • According to many car magazinez, the 911 turbo vs GT3 RS difference in acceleration should not be that lopsided, I think either the GT3 driver was babying his car or he just can't drive stick!

  • definitely he missed a shift

  • Did something go wrong with the GT3 because the 997 turbo cant be that fast compared to it.

  • can be in a drag race, because its Turbo

  • Both supercars, my money if had some any would be on the Turbo though for my garage weekend queen. Oh my, either a 911 turbo or Ferrari only please. One can dream.

  • My god, the turbo absolutely annihilated it! I am surprised, i thought the RS would have lost but that was incredible. These cars are both fantastic in my eyes and i would have either/both lol

  • very cool sound of the gt3 at 0:26 aprox.when he jumps and funny how fast the turbo catches him

  • He missed a shift, otherwise it's impossible :

    1000 m in 22.1 (turbo) and 22.7 (gt3)...

  • At 1:18 the sound of the RS pwns the turbo sound

  • I will take the RS any day.

  • I'm sick and tired of seeing americans yell,"BUY AMERICAN! BOYCOTT JAPANESE!" then they head off and drive their Porsche...

  • my top 2 favorite cars the 911 turbo (997) and the 911 GT3 RS(997), this is brilliant!!

  • GT3 missed a gear. The Turbo will win in a drag race, but by a smaller margin of about 4 car lengths at 250 KM/H. Not this much. Around a race track, a pro in GT3 will kill the Turbo any day of the week.

  • Why are orange cars so popular these days?! WTF!

  • yjrgu

  • gt3 missed 2nd gear...

  • I caught that too. There should be another race. The turbo is faster, but not by that much.

  • funny because they start in second

  • gt3 started in 1st cos they pull around 75kay in 1st...turbo started in 2nd

  • 75 thousond?

  • kay as in kilometers per hour

  • You're right, titanium conrods are only mounted on the GT3. But basically they are very very similar engines, obviously one is N|A, the other turbocharged, so they have to have some differences, expetially geometrical/kinematic ones . I am writing what I'm reading on a technical book: "PORSCHE 911, 40 YEARS OF TECHNICAL EVOLUTION" written by Jorg Austen and Sigmund Walter.

If you have some better information source, please indicate it to me, because I can't find good infos on the internet.

  • bende porscheleri seviyorum

  • try doing that to a nissan gtr

  • it would be closer but not SO close..

  • Wow - nice comparison. I was surprised that the Turbo butchered the GT3RS with what seemed to be almost no effort. Excellent clip. Would be interesting to see how they match up in 'real' race conditions - the RS3 should be able to regain something in a nice curvy setup :-)

  • GT3 RS owns the 997 turbo around a race track.

  • In the hands of a very very good driver, yes.

For 99% of amateur track day racers the turbo is faster, because it's easier to take to the limit, where the gt3 is much more difficult to drive fast.

  • No it is not, it is a GTBoard exclusive video.

  • but i have seen it bevore from another provider

  • No you have not since I uploaded this a week ago. Unique material.

  • I love all Porsche's, but if i had to choose one it would be the GT3.

  • no ford focus st :(

  • that 997 turbo rockets!

  • Which camcorder did you shoot with? The picture looks nice...

  • I wanna know too!

  • What!?...Is that RS sponsored by Hugo Boss

  • the gt3 kicks ass on the track but not as much in the strait as the turbo. gt3 RS= track car.....turbo=DD but very nice cars though just depends what ur needs r.

  • so let me get this straight.

the GT3RS is a lightened version of the car it just raced.

    but it still lost?

    odd.

  • Nope, the RS is naturally aspirated and is down quite a few horsepower and even more torque to the Turbo. The Turbo should have more top end.

  • It's very complicated with the 911 range. Basically it is like this

    911 (standard model)

    911 S (with more power)

911 4 (standard model with 4 wheel drive)

911 4s (more power and 4 wheel drive)

911 Turbo (twin turbo - flagship of the range)

    911 GT2 (over 500bhp but 2 wheel drive - mega)

    911 GT3 - lightened version of the 911

    911 GT3 RS - even more hardcore

  • first part is correct, but the 997 turbo has way more hp than the 997 RS. The RS will beat the turbo on track.

  • The Gt3 RS is naturally aspirated.

  • The GT3RS is a lightened version of the 911 GT3. The GT3 is the track version of the 911 Carrera which is naturally aspirated. The Turbo is it's own thing. The lightened version of the Turbo is the GT2.

  • it has less horse power

  • Less power!

  • No silly! The RS has a tuned version of a Carrera engine; the Turbo has a twin-turbo setup of it.

  • No they are both fundamentally different engines. Even the displacements are different.. Why that is.. is something you'll have to figure out on your own.

  • The GT3 and the turbo have the same engine, one N\A the other turbocharged. It is an evolution of the Porsche GT1 le mans car, it's got dry sump, block and heads made in three pieces,Titanium valves and conrods, a special nitrured crankshaft, and so on.The turbo has a lower compression ratio than the gt3, but the engine is the same.

The standard Carrera engine is very very different.

  • Yes, in professional hands the GT3 lapped faster than the Turbo around a race track, but for amateur drivers, the Turbo might be easier to reach the limits due to AWD.

  • no it's due to the 480 boost hp vs 413 Na hp..

    simple as that,

  • Around the race track it is not. 415 (not 413 HP) vs 480 HP, but then it is also 3200 lbs (GT3) vs 3700 lbs (Turbo). The exceptionally light weight makes the GT3 is a race track beast.

  • agree tnx, I've participated in a road show for Porsche for about 6 hours. We've tested almost everything from the cayman to the 911 Turbo. Moreover, I've got a certificate from Porsche in high professionalism . they're nice machines but I'm an ex-Aston Martin staff . I'm a "Brand" freek!. I can't forget it's somehow a beetle. But I admit, nice hi-tech machines. Tnx for the civilized argument.

  • What do you think about my point?Do you think that a turbo can be faster in the hands of a "normal" amateur driver?

I saw lots of friends in the Porsche amateur championship "Formula Club" going slower with a C2 than with a C4.For example, one of them has set a 2:26 best time on the Mugello circuit with his 993 C2 while he had a 2:21 with his previous 964C4.

That's why I started to think what I've said.

Maybe I'm wrong, but many people says the turbo is easier to drive fast.

  • Ya i totally agree with you. The Turbo 911 "from what I know" I really easy to drive. I mean there's no big deal about driving it especially that the mass production line of it is equipped with the Auto-Transmission" I'm talking about the latest 911 which Porsche is saying the Auto version is faster than the manual & it can go to 100Km in 3.7 Sec". ya like the GT3 it's not a car anyone can just drive.

  • Good info

  • that was amazing!

  • The Turbo made it look so easy! Ha!

  • I do love the Porsche GT3 RS but I don't really know why anyone would buy one. It is very expensive and there are a lot of other very good, if not better track cars for the same or even less money. You really would need a serious passion for Porsche to buy one I think. Personally out of these two I would take the Turbo.

  • Epic! I have been waiting to see this match for a long time.

  • although the turbo wouldve won anyways, I think the GT3 had problems jamming the shifter into 2nd gear in the beginning.*clak* *clak* *clak* *shift*

  • its called spinning wheels and the rev limiter. the driver drove it just fine

  • True, that is what I beleive happend.

  • I'll take the Turbo over the GT3 RS any day... Porsche 911 Turbo ROCKS :-)...

  • Damn does that Turbo pull hard out of 1st gear!! I love Porsche and I love both vehicles very much, it showes how when both cars have 3.8L Flat-6 engines, two turbos make such a difference off the line and overall. Must point out that the GT3RS is a hell of a track car and is designed for that purpose. Good race.

  • well of course the turbo was gonna win that!

  • bad drivers

  • re run needed to confirm the difference.nice race.

  • I'd take a GT3 over a Turbo anyday.

  • both cars have their advantages, the GT3 is definitely the better sportscar, with an amazing sound, but the Turbo is better for daily use, with 4wd, good comfort, and fantastic straight line performance.

  • Driver of the GT3 missed a gear, and by the way...who buys a GT3RS without carbon brakes?

  • He spun on 1st I beleive to the limiter.

  • thought so. i made a comment about that before. it doesn't change the result of the race, but it sure helps the 911turbo walk around him alot quicker.

  • Ohh my days!

I know the Turbo was faster, but missing the gear musta been MAJOR help!

  • True. If he really did miss?

  • Yeah yeah, I would like to think he didn't considering it's a frickin expensive car and it got smashed by it's brother!

  • f430 vs murcielago

  • Striped VS Bosted....Boosted all the way!!

  • Did the GT3 miss his first shift after the start? if you listen it sure sounds like it.

  • Could very well be. However juts slight after he hangs i nthere for a while?

  • The 997 GT3 RS has lost in just about every video its in. Normally by large margins. Has it no acceleration speed at all?

  • In some races the drivers friend drove with not 100% good ahifts but here the the correct driver was behind the wheel.

Maybe the shifts wheren't 100% but its a fact that the 997 Turbo is very fast esp. in manual over 200 km/h, which the vidoe shows.

  • The GT3 is fast, the other cars are faster! Keep in mind that the GT3 had the lowest horsepower rate at the event, and still was able to hang in there! It´s a track-car!

  • wow. great race! it started pretty close, but then the turbo power killed on the top end. the GT3 RS only comes in manual, right?

  • Correct.
