A lot of these cops on Road Wars play up to the camera. I've just watched one where a fat copper called Waller (Wally would have been better) uses bullying tactics against a group of lads out at night. On and on he goes winding them up and trying to be clever. And the best bit - while he's bullying these lads a stolen Audi that he had been looking for speeds past, LOL!!. He then starts blaming the lads. If there is one example of how to alienate young people from the police this was it.

they are trained drivers they are highly unlikely to crash unless it is on purpose. they also dont wear them because they need to get out of the car quickly. they wouldnt stop you if you wore it in the first place unless you think youre too cool for one.
