  • Point some at haywire go gonna was apparatus travel time that knew I. Sketch show Muppet a from here get I did how?

  • Oh wait, I found it.

  • where's the whole episode?

  • Looks like they may have added appliances to Fred Gwynne's cheekbones to make them look larger when the series went into production. They should have done the same to Edward Herrmann, it was the one thing lacking in his portrayal.

  • THIS VIDEO IT'S REAL!!!! THIS IS THE ORIGINAL PILOT!!! LOOK.. Joan Marshall appeared in the 15 minute unaired pilot of The Munsters as Phoebe Munster (who strongly resembled Morticia Addams). Before the series was picked up, The Munsters was retooled and Marshall was replaced by actress Yvonne De Carlo.

(this is from wikipedia so you know) :)

  • @MrFortuBass Yvonne was better than Phoebe of course!!!!

  • Joan Marshall is also known as "Jean Arliss" who played the psycho blonde in HOMICIDAL (1961).

  • Joan Marshall was beautiful but im glad they replaced her with Yvonne De Carlo.

  • "Phoebe" is gorgeous.

  • the show would have been better off if it had stayed in color

  • This is really neat! Where did you find this? Fred Gwynne's make-up is different from what it actually became, which is neat to see. Great stuff, folks! Thanks for posting this! =D

  • I guess Happy was not that "Happy"! Patrick was much better!

  • This was the pilot episode. Its on the complete 1st season DVD.

  • @kitpenguin8 If you look at the entire clip you'll see Bevery Owen still has the "mop" hairdo w.w.w.youtube.com/watch?v=j9cZGWV7B-k .

  • @kitpenguin8 this actually is the unaired pilot from 1963...before Yvonne De Carlo was cast as Lily, and before Butch Patrick got the role of Eddie. They aired the pilot in color, but decided to change it to airing it in black and white for the series. The producers thought it would look better in B&W compared to how it came out in color.

  • @njlee8785 I belive that what they said was that the orginal eddie this kid was too creepy and the producers wanted a cast change, I think you are right about the B&W issue as well.

  • @kitpenguin8 It's well known that the original unaired 1963 pilot was filmed in color. The show was switched to B&W when it went into production.

  • @kitpenguin8 kitpenguin8 seems like he might be psychotic.

  • @kitpenguin8 Wanna bet,the original pilot was shot in color but was retooled later as a b&w series and they recast Lily & Eddie, thank god.

  • they HAD color film in 1963 as well as something called an "orchestra". How ignorant.

  • @kitpenguin8 Do a little research, the original pilot WAS shot in color.

  • ok i know thats colors supposed to be better but for the Munsters, black & white is best.

  • This is not the original series pilot

This is some cheesy attempt at a remake--it did not last

  • No thanks.....the original just can't be duplicated.

  • I thought Grandpa Munster was Lily's dad.

  • @vonskull He is.

  • @vonskull He is

  • i saw ths for the first time when i brough the first season of the munster if i didn buy it then i wouldn have knw about ths pilot plus after the shot they replaced eddie and lily a

  • anyone who wants to see this in black and white well just turn down the colour on your tv set.

  • If I was Herman, I would have kept Phoebe on. If you know what.. Phoebe could and very well be Morticia's twin. Good clip.

  • Why are they all blue? It makes sense for Herman, but since when are vampires and werwolves blue? Also, they overuse the laugh track, but I suppose that's just 1960's TV for you.

  • @DoctorPorkenfries Most people maybe 90 some % of the original audience were more than thrilled by the blue color of the Mumster.

  • i like it with lily...and black and white...also with the theme song..this one sucks...sorry :/

  • @KayleeKatastrophe66

I prefer the 1964 version, too. But this is interesting, thanks for putting it up!

  • Glad they changed it to Lily....so much better....=)

  • sounds like Hermans presidant at 1:26 onwards who agrees

  • Fred Gwynne was too cool walking at the end.

  • "Phoebe" looked too much like Morticia Addams.

  • @ctdsnark That's why they dropped her and gave the part to Ms. DeCarlo. Joan Marshall was married to director Hal Ashby. She was on the verge of stardom for 10 years. Never happened.
