  • e impresionante

  • soberbia

  • Magnificent...

  • SUPREMA...exquisita...una dualidad de dulzura y fuerza en una sola DIVA!

  • Montserrat you capture my heart strings:)

  • My favourite version.

Callas sounds harsh, Te Kanawa dull etc etc. Of course it's subjective but to me Caballe sang it better than anyone I've heard thus far :)

  • Squisito

  • Oh! Sooo GOOOOOOOD!!!!!

  • Fenomenale, fenomenale, fenomenale, fenomenale, fenomenale. Ho reso l'idea?

  • une fragilité combiné d'une force voila !!! que demander de plus

  • FANTASTICA!

  • Absolutely beautiful and very emotional!

  • Great inspiration

  • Legendary breath control, floating pianissimi, celestial beauty, richness, sensitive

musicality and sublime expression! Brava Diva!! Thank you for posting and to

    paulostroff99 for sharing!

  • So magical, so special. This singing is fantastic.

  • As good as it gets. TY my fiend James and Onegin 65 for posting

  • A lovely rendition by one of the truly great singers!

  • @CanadaPisces

Truly lovely. Thank you, James. Thank you, Onegin65 for posting.

  • this is the best version. i like it more than maria callas

  • @mariano2047 I agree with you ! What a voice, so strong and pure, but still warm, I don't know how to put it... this is just like perfection !

  • @mariano2047 -Caballe has a far more pleasant voice. She is as good as it gets on most arias.

  • Such unfettered beauty..... Idon't know how people can like other music when opera is by far superior. I guess that is just my opinnion but rap rock and god awful country shouldn't even be sold in the same stores (as well other genres i didn't mention) (obviously classical fall in line with opera)

  • @Daniel6996ful As valid as your comments are, what stores are you talking about? In the U.S., only 3% of the music sold is classical. Music stores have closed in my city. I no longer can find good classical selections in my metro area of 2 1/2 million people. There are hardly any classical music radio stations any more. My cable TV music channels selection eliminated the opera channel. I have to go on-line to purchase music. I have to got to YouTube to channels like your to hear good music.

  • La Nota Aguda OMG Muy Hermosa En Su Voz!!

  • WOW!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The voice is so powerful - but it never loses its incredibly beautiful tone. I agree too that she sings from her heart and soul.

  • This is the best I've heard so far.

  • @idonperg Do you meand Anna Netrebko?? Thanks god Caballe was not like her!

  • @allanrosendo -I fully agree. No comparison. Netrebco has very little passion to go along with her pleasant voice.

  • I had almost heart all the existente versions of "La Wally" . And gosh i have to say that this one is the best version ever!!Not because Caballe`s voice is the strongest one, but coz she deliver pure soul and emotion in the music. After her i think Renata Tebaldi made as well a good interpretation,Tebaldi version is very clean and powerful.

  • Si distingue il canto della Caballè per la sua espressività, molto più umano e vero di molte sue colleghe. Stupenda.

  • Splendida. Al 0:31 da lacrime. Fantastico

  • Divine!

  • I love her dramatic and emotional singing! It's kind of unbeatable.

  • Superba

  • better than KANAWA...

  • Jesus christ you all know better then these professionals singers who studied over then 6 years at the conservatoire.

  • Beautiful! Thanks.

  • Just listened to this to hear what all the Renee-bashers were using for comparison. Caballe sounds nice, but has her technical problems too, pushing here and there. She doesn't even sound warmed up into it at the start, lacking legato. Fleming sounds much more consistent. Why are people so much more vicious about Fleming than Caballe?

  • Because being vicious about Caballe is totally pointless. Caballe has entered history and has CREATED quite a bit of it also. Thus it serves no particular purpose to go on as to how she pushed, sreamed, smudged, scooped, mispronounced, simplified, pianissimized, gulped and sobbed because stating that she did this cannot diminish in the least bit her merit.

  • @GeorgiNM , Thank you for your reply, but it doesn't really answer my question. Renee has also entered history and created a bit of it, too. She is still singing, and I wonder if this is the only reason people are so rude about her, compared to someone like Caballe. I like Caballe, I simply don't see why people are so rude about others too.

  • I totally agree with you that bashing other singers does nothing to benefit the singer one likes better, this is for sure. It is just that I find a magic in Caballe that I believe is the reason for which she is celebrated, and what many people do, i.e. criticising quirks of hers, is quite futile because this magic is there. And it is magic not only natural, but magic enhanced by interpretation, technique, etc. Fleming has a very rich and luscious voice and great coloratura.

  • Sung so beautifully & without strain...one of my all time favorite performances!

  • A sensitive and passionate interpretation.although I find the voice is at its most beguiling when not put under too much pressure.

  • this is so beautiful.

  • This always move me at the end.

  • Caballe's beautiful singing touches my soul!

  • Great!!!

  • What a wonderful rendition!

    Thanks for the posting.

  • muy femenina y fuerte voz

  • wonderful, the most flexible voice i ^ve ever heard. messa di voce

  • I must admit that I have always been in love with Callas and found her out of everything knowns. However, I also love Montse and I feel that she is one of the fews to have, in some pieces, equalled in quality (in her way) Maria's. However, she is most limited in roles.

  • Si belle voix..Que d'émotion...C'est le plus beau cadeau que peut nous faire une telle cantatrice....Nous émouvoir ,nous toucher au plus profond de notre âme. MERCI

  • Have you heard the japanese performance of Poveri Fiori, also available in YouTube? unbelievable

  • I think Caballe's version of this aria is the best in Youtube right now. The slightly slower tempo brings out the well of emotions in this piece.

  • I agree. Followed by Tebaldi and Callas' versions.

  • .

    hahahah....Tebonin.....

    .

  • So beautiful and inspiring...Love Angelica

  • wow i love her but i never expected her version of this to be this good....amazing

  • Yes, early Caballe has often times been called the nightingale. :)))

  • I am lucky to enjoy this performance. Of course is different from Callas, Thebaldi and Gheorgiu, but the one I like the most is the one I am listening. Regards from Mexico.

  • Her pianissimi are just fantastic. But, stranely, I find Callas' voice mor suitalble for this aria. Because it needs more purity and humanity and not a power. I think so... But Caballe's version is also pleasant for me, anyway.

  • shes absolutely stunning when shes in tune

  • perfect voice...

  • I thank her for her beautiful voice and amazing talent.

  • Tonight I've listened to all the available clips on youtube and have no doubt Caballe's is the best. She is simply sublime! Others are more popular, but this is truly magnificent and unparalelled! Not fogetting, of course, that the music is also exquisite, whomsoever the singer!

  • Angela Gheorghiu really captured the essence.. but Caballes is beautiful...WOW

  • gostei

  • Hmm...I'm not convinced 100% that this is Montsi's rep...but there are some really fine moments here.

  • monsti sung on this! best version ive heard of this song so far

  • Her voice is rich and powerful with a different tessitura and color of Callas, both are beautiful and each individual. From individual interpretations comes artistry. Now stop fighting children!

  • wold-class thanks caballe very much

  • BRAVA BRAVA BRAVA BRAVA BRAVA BRAVA !

  • Alas, Montsy and Maria -- yes even La Divina Maria, --

admit -- here CERQUETTI RULES !!!

    The undeniably DELUXE CERQUETTI.

  • I love her voice.

  • BRAVA!

  • Caballé had no trill? What? She is famous for her pianissimo high C's and her trills!

  • I also give her high marks on her creschendos/de-creschendos which she did not do very often and why I don't know but it showed her vocal and interpretive strength when she did those and yes when she sang verismo roles like Adriana. Freni was also powerfull in those though still different from Caballe.

  • Actually, before '75 she did them quite often. She had a tumor removed from her abdomen in '74, and then a full hysterectomy in '75. After that she lost some of her support...

  • she sings it as a tiple of zarzuela or a spanish song.this is an aria for a dramatic voice not for her.Caballe voice is bland, has not the metal and weight Puccini or in this case Catalani needs

  • jajajja, you know nothing about voices, jajaja

  • Beautiful, Monserat, as usual of course. She among Callas, Tebaldi, Kiri are all wonderful and what a beautiful piece this is. BARAVA all..

  • I am amaized how powerfully Montserat Caballé expresses the meanning of that music trough her voice. I am moved deeply inside my heart more than any other performing one I listened to up to now, even more than Calla´s one. No offense, she is brilliant too, but that one is to be remembered. I am so happy to have that one hier.

  • With this deeply profound aria, technique is not as important as expression. She has it in spades. And this interpretation is soooo spacious, allowing for the oceanic heart of the melody to expand beyond limit. It's sublime. And to compare her to Callas is just apples and oranges...no point, irrelevant, and unkind.

  • I have been to Monserrat - she is a goddess.

  • beautiful woman, powerful voice..

  • hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Waw waw Thank you, this made my day........Havenly

  • Devo riconoscere la bellezza del canto della Caballè in questa aria, brava eccezionale.

    Grazie del video.

  • What do you say!!! I like this version better than Tebaldi's version of this aria!!! Not more than Callas' though but, still excellent!!

  • Tebaldi is better in this aria, but Caballe

    is fine.

  • I've been looking for a long time for Caballe's version of this song. I think it easily ranks as one of the top three versions out there. Thank you for this clip.

  • What a great great voice. This song suits Montserrat beautifully.

  • just listen!it's not music,it's like the air to me,incredable!!!!

  • Jesus !!!! Her voice is great !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • and callas admited "My only sucesor is caballe"

  • Stop saying that Callas is always the best! She's got a great voice, but it's her name that makes her popularity! Caballé is much better than Callas!

  • Callas is not always the best. Cablle had a much better technique of bel canto but callas conveyed so much more emotion! She seemed to suffer along with the heroine. But I love both singers and think they were great

  • hey be kind, i think of voices like cars callas was a porsche (to be kind) could do the quick stuff, Caballe is a Cadilac not meant for the speed and agility.. no prob just different instruments

  • At the end of this aria Caballe's diminuendo sounds very good because of her voice buy it is really pathetic nothing close to Callas. I'll try to be nice since after Callas i like Caballé.

  • Listen to her Philips studio recording w DiStefano from, '74. (oh, can't find it ? - then cease w your puerile pontificating -- only the inner circle has access to this never-released recording) Weep, bitch.

    Cerquetti rules !!

  • Caballe said this: "She opened a new door for us, for all the singers in the world, a door that had been closed. Behind it was sleeping not only great music but great idea of interpretation. She has given us the chance, those who follow her, to do things that were hardly possible before her. That I am compared with Callas is something I never dared to dream. It is not right. I am much smaller than Callas."

  • she said that out of respect, they were friends...caballes respects her a lot and think of herself as less than callas, but it doesn´t mean she IS.

  • Of course, it was a very gracious comment from her and I do believe Caballe was superior to Callas in some aspects. But Callas was the one who initiated a new movement, revived interpretation and acting on opera stages.

This is what made Callas unique and many great singers acknowledge this and the impact it had on their career and opera overall.

  • yes, that would be the case since caballe had no trill, nothing close to e-flat, and no mezzo tones arather small voice that dared to take on wagnerian roles and showed it was not her area. Yes, if talking about some one being superior to the rest that would be Callas

  • If the perfection exists, is something like this. No words to describe this...

  • my goddness this is not beauty, not magic THIS IS DIVINE THIS VOICE HAVE TO BE OF SOME GOD OR GODDESS

  • such beauty, will there ever be another voice like hers???

  • Such a beautiful, effortless, soaring voice. So many sopranos pull arias like this to pieces - she floats it heavenwards. Gorgeous.

  • incredible voice
