@mrtacosmahser Then need them because the plane goes to near space, and the air is very thin. It's mainly for safety if they had to bail out from my knowledge.

It's used for recon mostly, it's not a bomber.

How does the plane stay leveled at a dead stop? Before the other wheels or put on.

@drink15 You can see at 4:38 once the aircraft slows down the wing tip scrapes on the ground till the aircraft exits the runway. Then the ground crew place the wheels under the wings so the plane can taxi back to the shed.

I am still a little confused as to the point of the chase car. I mean i get the truck coming in at the end with the wheels, but not the car. Can someone explain this to me?

@Th3Ap3x There are many reasons... top three, The gentlemen flying the aircraft wear a space suit, it is difficult to tilt your head down to reference the ground, so another pilot will come up behind the aircraft and tell the pilot how close he is to the ground. The landing gear don't have a lot of travel (shock absorbing) so you need to land soft. Third, the aircraft is near stall, & the pilot needs all the help he can get. 4, its good clean fun for the pilot not in the U-2
