  • I feel my moms arm around me ,remembering sunday mornings way back ....listning to some old Johnny Cash

  • He can take a song and make it his own even if he didn`t write it. Real genius.

  • its sunday morning and im coming down

  • @TheJamesPbutler hair of the dog time man..

  • Johnnie saw early on that Kris Kristofferson was a talented songwriter, even if Kris had to invade Johnnies world with a helicopter and beg him to listen. Me and Bobby McGee, was Kris's first real hit.

  • i miss this man so so much.r.i.p johnny.when i die ill look for you

  • A very memorable song from probably my favorite singer.

  • This song is THE best song ever written. It never leaves me without goosebumps.

  • great poster inspired by this song at

    honky tonk poster dot com.

  • Kris is an awesome writer for other artists. :)

  • Another #1 hit for The Man in Black on the Country & Western charts. It was the 194th #1 C&W song of the Rock Era. It also hit #1 on the Canadian RPM Country Tracks charts and #30 on the Canadian RPM Top Singles charts.

  • this is a great vidio. every body wants to sound like jonny , but noone can.

  • Johnny cash is the reason i ever got into music. i fell imediately into his style

and it suties me very well.

  • " heard 'Bringing in the Sheeves' . . . " amen!

  • LEGEND

  • Deja vu thats all i got to say.

  • my Dad and I loved this together my Dad has paaed away...but I have so much music we shared..all good...Indiana

  • probably everybody knows, but. this song was used in one of the famous columbo´s episodes - the swan song, where johnny cash was a "bad" gospel singer

  • @zghnzg I think the swan song was Hank Williams song, 'I Saw The Light'.

  • @Carters01 yes, it was also there, as the main theme of that episode. but in few scenes, there was also "sunday morning coming down" f.e. when tomy brown (JC) was celebrating his wifes funeral, and aslo that mechanic guy from airport was still listenning to "SMCD" and tomy brown also told him that he has good music fancy. I saw this episode so many many many times. I really love it.

  • @Carters01

Johnny sings it when he's having the party after his wife's funeral.

  • @Carters01 I think both were used, one was during the concert and then i believe this was used during his funeral picnic

  • @Carters01 no, I feel the same way, I am living in a different province from my family, and I am so lonely

  • @zghnzg Listening to this song I always think of Columbo and The Rockford Files. Love that 70's sunny California image.

  • @zghnzg That's topical, as I just watched this vid on the day peter falk died.

  • Greatest musician of all time

  • Is there anyone out there that can't relate one way or the other at one point in their life?....doubt....angels have wings...and i havn't seen anyone flying around....well maybe on a good night in the 90's i did...but...well hell maybe i was in cash mode....lol....another awesome song!!

    ty for the link!!

  • #1 J.R. RIP

  • this song takes me back to something that I lost somewhere, somehow along the way

  • The first time I remember seeing Kris Kristofferson, he was accepting a country music award for writing this song. He was so drunk he had a hard time finding the stage, and couldn't talk very well. Such a talented song writer!

  • Almost always makes me cry

  • damn good song

  • ..... to meet the day...

  • This song was writen by Kris Kristoffersen. Great actor and singer.

  • Am I the only one who feels really lonely listening to this?

  • @TheAntelwi no

  • @TheAntelwi no, there's me as well.

  • @TheAntelwi nooo...very melancholy song. Always brings me down when I hear it but it's a good kind of sadness somehow

  • @TheAntelwi .......No not at all i feel exactly the same way pretty sad ay!!

  • @TheAntelwi .. nope you are not.

  • It's amazing that Kris Kristofferson wrote a song, and it fit Johnny so perfectly. I believe this song symbolizes Johnny's constant struggle between his faith (Sunday morning) and his lifestyle (coming down).

  • greatest country song of all time.

  • The Man!

  • some hard living gone into this song

  • i would love a country singer to write about what he really feels instead of some guy writing it for the from some studio aparment for them, get back to old country please!!!

  • I like old country and new country. :) People can appreciate both!

  • Rockabilly or what ever they call it is NOT country. This is country, and I love it.

  • @Zzac1223 Rockabilly is southern rock n roll

Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly, Big Bopper, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins well if you look most rock n rollers were from the southern states so most rock n roll is rockabilly but your right rockabilly is not country though Johnny Cash helped pioneer rockabilly in the 50s he eventually fell in to the country style music

  • Johnny was told by the producers if he sang this song he could not say the word "stoned", if he did, he would be fired. He did anyway, Johnny Cash always done what he thought was right.

  • @mabarker111 that was on his tv show but this is in a prison so he had no problems singing that part haha

  • GIVE it up for MR Kris Kristofferson the lyricist ...

  • The Man In Black > all. R.I.P. Johnny

  • Love kris kristofferson for writing it, and jonny cash for singin' it. Great song!

  • The beer I had for breakfast wasn't bad

So I had one more for dessert.

You have to live this to write this.

  • @Cuzindude I'm living it right now. I'm surprised he's living.

  • 2:35 i believe was used in the video for Hurt. Happy Birthday Man in Black

  • The definitive Sunday song

  • this song is reality listen to the words good suffffffffffffffffffffffffff

  • @tonyjiz LOL...Roger that...:)

  • I'm never drinking again...ever. That's what I say on almost every Sunday morning.

  • @MoP86Cliff Amen to that

  • king of country johnny cash if i had johnny cash and charlies pride would not have a buck owen

  • king of country johnny cash if i had johnny cash and charlies pride would not have a buck owen

  • eargasm

  • johnny is a true musician a story teller not just another douche singing about tractors and beer.

  • I believe that this great man was able to put feeling into his music because he lived it and was woven into the very fiber of his being. We grasped onto the honesty of it. His music remains a companion to me.

  • life makes you wonder

  • I'm 20 and I've been loving Johnny Cash's music almost all my life. The rhythm, the music and his stories kind of takes me away to a completely another world. RIP J. R. Cash.

  • SUPERB

  • the best!

  • havnt we all looked for the cleanest dirty shirt lads ?

  • @MrIn2ition So true.

  • Johnny was the best, God bless him and June,

  • one fantastic song, i remember when it was played on the radio i had to go to the record stoe and buy it on the same day i heard it, stilll have it today, theres just something about the song that stidks to you, i never have figured out all these years what it is, but i still like to hear it as much as i can even more than ever since we can get songs from the computer, have found so many as a teenager i used to play so much, to me the best year in music was the later 60's and 70's

  • This song is the truth...Kris Kristofferson wrote a great song...and Johnny really brings it home.

  • @dburr13 he does at that, was one of the best, take that back, is one of the best still today

  • I know its been said here already but while your shouting out praise for Cash (rightfully so), be sure to remember that the guy who wrote the song is still around and deserves a LOT of credit too. Rock on Kris Kristofferson.

  • johnny was good brings me back.

  • This to me is Johnny Best. Like all his, Buy this one was from Johnny's heart

  • @Blessed11241944 this song was written by Kris Kristofferson

  • @dao3rd ,,,,,,yes he is!! i love all his songs!

  • I play this when im hungover to remind me im not the only one who feels like they are dying that day! lol

  • my boy is 11 yrs old and he loves any johnny cash songs he just sings along and good music knows no age limit

  • Grew up in a place like this and he is right, there is nothing short of dying that's half as lonesome as the south...wish I was there right now though, with the smell of fried chicken in the air, and sunday school choirs singing and the church bells ringing

  • @alzioalzio YOu have a good point, but he said "that's half as lonesome as the SOUND of a sleeping city sidewalk", there's no mention of the south in this song at all.

  • I can relate to this.

  • so brings me back to my boozin days

  • i was only 2 when he died but his music lives forever!!!!!!

  • Now You play in heaven, Johnny...

  • thanks for postin 'carters'

  • my old foreman was a beer drinker and recently had a heart attack and died. he was a great man and very dear to my crew. this song was played at the funeral. and like most of cash' songs... it hits close to home.

  • Just a classic song for someone who is searching for themselves.

  • I'll never forget this song, working away from home and homesick. It's so true.

  • memories

  • Everybody just Relax!!

  • HELLO, I'm Johnny Cash,,,,I remember watching his show on TV

  • Fantastic. We miss you, Johnny.

  • This is REAL country. The crap they call country today doesn't compare to Johnny Cash.

  • @TravellinMan94 youre very right, thats REAL COUNTRY

  • @TravellinMan94 ...Man you got it right....

  • @TravellinMan94 ,,,you are abslutely right!!!!!!!

  • @TravellinMan94 Back in the 90's no one in Nasheville wouldn't sign him, he had to go to Rick Rubin's American Records label in Brooklyn, NY in order to continue recording. Rubin's most famous for signing acts like the Beastie Boys and Slayer, yet he was only one that would give country's greatest singer/songwriter a chance. To me this is the prime example of why modern country (with just a handful of exceptions) sucks so badly.

  • @TravellinMan94 Todays country is only "pop"country where they think it is all about money and fame

  • @TravellinMan94 Amen bro!!!

  • @TravellinMan94 thumbs up for your username!!

  • @TravellinMan94 I agree 100%

  • @TravellinMan94 You are right my friend!!!!!!

  • @TravellinMan94 Beatiful words

  • @TravellinMan94

Times change. Nothing can be like it was, and nothing will stay like it is.

Deal with it. nostalgica = emo

  • @TravellinMan94 music dont get better then this. every word has a powerefull meaning, and sung with soul. aaahh it just dont get better then this.RIP Johnny

  • @TravellinMan94 Preach it brother, you are so right!

  • @TravellinMan94 Amen dude

  • @TravellinMan94 I agree !..We have seen the best of times. God bless.

  • @TravellinMan94 If country musicians wrote like this today, it would be so much more popular...

  • When I was growing i listened to a lot of Johnny and June Carter Cash, my mother has been a long time fan, reading and reciting a lot about them both, a HUGE fan I might add. This is one of my favorite songs, although, there are too many more "When the man comes around.":)

  • why couldnt he sing about tuesday because i am hanging today ha ha ha

  • This is my first Sunday away from home. I'm glad to know that my feelings were already put into words by a master of expressing feelings.

  • when i wake up after a night out feeling sick and depressed, this song makes me feel like someone else has felt the same way before, which overcomes the feelings of loneliness!

  • amazing

  • @LEFTY677 Truly. Really never get tired of this cat crooning Sunday Morning...Chin up folks it's never as bad as they would have you believe...yeah, its' so much better!

  • Growing up my dad was Dino , Frankie and Johnny.....i swear.lol....this also was my dads favorite. I miss Johnny Cash, and all them times my dad, bros and I would sing this damn song......lol...over and over and over. We fought over who would get up from the supper table to turn the needle back and play it again......damn, i miss them days........but more than anything, I miss you Dad........

  • @tminutelli This why we have great memory of jonny cash he,s songs go right to the heart this man was the best there will ever be when he died he took coutry music with him ,and keep those memory of your dad close to you as they are worth gold ,trev

  • @george39443 Yep, saw many Sunday mornings coming down in my small area of nfld. where there were Bands every Saturday night in every nightclub in the late 60's mid-80's era. Sadly, these days have disappeared, great times when i was in my prime, great parties, great friends.

  • great song johnny is awesome RIP buddy

  • this song describes so much in my life

  • This is not the clip, but, the one CD w/this clip that JC does (the 1 with Jackson, and ends with One Piece at a Time on it) well, every time I hear this song, it RIPS me APART inside!! In my youth I woke up all too many a Sunday (right outside a bar) on a lonely sidewalk, & the guy that cleaned-up always gave me a beer or 2 for breakfast and after, I would look at the world (like the words in this song) Wishin to the Lord that I was STONED! THANK U KRIS! RIP JC, I WILL ALWAYS LOVE & REMEMBER U!

  • my biggest regret was not to have seen him live. his music lives on
