The best way to remove blade bolts is an impact wrench. But tapping the wrench with a hammer also will break the bolts loose, usually with ease.

The finger-like things at the end of the blade are called Vanes. The manual states: Since vanes generally require more power and creat more noise Areins Compant recommends that user try mower without vanes first. If satisfactory use the bagger without them. The flanges are metal pieces that are bolted to the bottom of the mower deck- kind of like an enclosure to boost the "vacuum" effect I think.

Hi, I notice you have the wings installed on the mower blade. Do you use the bagger-vac system with it? (that's what the blade wings are for) If so, I was wondering how it works without the flanges attached to the deck (flanges also go with the bagger-vac system)

@1friedone i've always had the flanges attached to the blade ever since I got the mower-never took them off. I do use a bagger system with the mower, and while I can't say for sure it does appear to aid in giving the deck enough force power to push the grass into the bagger.
