  • If something is groovin', you'll never get tired of listening to it.

  • He makes the metronome alive .

  • THIS MUTHA FUCKA IS CCRRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAZZZZZZZZZZZYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • awesome

  • he just needs a metronome and hes on!prof tomo fujita rocks!

  • This is pure perfection

  • you are the most awesome guitarist here

  • Amazing!

  • very good

  • can you do a lesson on how to do the muted triplet right hand thing that you do? 2:13-2:20

  • niceeeeeee! i love the groove!

  • As Wayne and Garth would say; "WE'RE NOT WORTHY, WE'RE NOT WORTHY, WE'RE NOT WORTHY.

  • so awesome

  • i would kill to get the music piece for this! GOD

  • Groove and Feel

  • It's great but it needs more wooden block

  • @threefingers333: is there a "more cowbell" joke hiding in there? :)

Man, I just love the way he changes the syncopation and still keeps perfect time. Woah, this is the first video I've heard him talk. Softly spoken & playing sharp!

PSM-5, Boss DD and a Klon Centaur. Nice and compact pedalboard. Many guitar teachers can learn a lot from this guy.

  • @leo first time ive seen him speak as well.. and there is always a need for more cowbell/wooden block.

  • I just found a new guitarhero...2:50 - 3:24..SO F***ING NICE!!!!!

  • Thank you! That's a part of my song "Just Funky" Check it out..

    Tomo

  • aaaohhhh!!!!

  • too good, too good.

  • 1:53 , 2:08-2:18 the hands of Christ himself

  • TOMO IS A BEAST!

  • i juust started listening to this dude and it is just so great i cant get enough of it keep on funkin tomo:D

  • What sort of chord progression does Tomo start playing at 1:00? Anyone know?

  • standard blues progression

  • Jazz blues.

  • It's a jazzblues progression.. basically just a quickchange blues with added 2-5:s if that makes sense..

  • Tomo IS FUNK. The end.

  • I have this Video on Japanese Version!!

    HE is GOD!

  • how'd he do that thing at 1:53?

  • The video isn't exactly synced up, but watch his left hand. It's a combo of him picking dead strings and his left hand slapping the dead strings. It's a slap bass technique.

    Nice Name.

  • 神

  • he got a hair cut!

  • hey buddy? what guitar are u using? JM Sig?

  • It's an SRV sig

  • at 2:15 that little thing he does is sick.

  • sorry what overdrive was that?

  • its a klon centaur

  • 0:40 it's seems like "funky town" xD

  • i bet he sold his soul to the devil! xD

  • jesus..

  • As a bassist I have to point out that he has almost no bass in tone/eq.......love that! Leave that frequency range to those with the fat strings!

  • I wonder how he gets those short really quick "clicking beats" inbetween the strumming patterns. like in 2:33 and 2:55

  • fast picking :)

  • Comment removed

  • This guitar is '92 Fender SRV signature strat with Lindy Frailn low output pickups .

    Tomo

  • you rock dude.........nice playing

  • Great video. I will be studying with you next semester at Berklee. I look forward to it.

  • @TomoFujitaMusic Tomo, where can i get the full DVD?

  • @TomoFujitaMusic my name is Tomo to haha does it mean enything :D

  • @TomoFujitaMusic gotta love that Pau Ferro fretboard, smooth as glass. I got an entire neck made from that wood after I played a SRV strat.

  • oh wow, that was a great little metronome tip. i don't know why i've never tried that before.

  • sounds like you're using a real thin pick?

love it though, the metronome demonstrates versatility and need for good time :)

    will.

  • Pure Funk inspiration!

  • wow, i gotta practice so i can mute and play as clean as that, that was very easy to bob my head to.

  • amazing. a pleasure to listen to.

  • Mr Fujita you are without doubt a master of the guitar. An honour to listen to.

  • Thank you so much! I am still learning....

    Tomo

  • you are not worry about copyright issues? :)

  • killer riffs!

  • Tomo Kick Ass.

    Tomo

  • hey where i could find JUST FUNKY guitar tab?please answer me ;-)

  • Is this an American or Japan stratocaster?

  • niether...its Mexican

  • how do u know big difference in sound?

  • lol no i was just kidding about the mexican thingy but yeah i'm really not sure if its american or japanese i'm guessing american because strats made in america are often better.

  • lol wth r u tengiscool?

yeh i saw a shop selling strats Mexican(790) american (2k)

they're both strats but so much difference

    so got curious

  • An SRV Sig is not Mexican. It's American.

  • clearly you did not read the comments.

  • Sure I did - That's why I corrected the guy claiming the SRV Sig is mexican. It's not.

  • good stuff good stuff!!!!

  • I see he plays "Just Funky" in the last part. Nice. And burbank street in another part. I love his album.

  • Hey yeah I was there too. Cool guy and great player

  • Tomo

It is great to see you on Youtube. You sound even better than you did 10 years ago. Your funk is in synch and the blues comes flowing thru...

Now let the world enjoy it all...

    Best Regards,

    George

  • Hi George,

Thank you so much for your warm support!

    Tomo

  • beginners funk.. funk is concept and when you really get into you it you get past the physicalities of it.. and start to conceptualize.. but this man is sick.

  • da fuck up

  • You grow up and study your history. I've heard dudes stay on one chord and sound better than this. Not saying it's not good.. but I'm tired of ppl who think Funk is all about minor ninths and dominants. Funk is a CONCEPT that produced a sound. Not a sound.

  • what are you talking about dude? He's not playing minor 9ths. Where are your demonstrations of funk?

  • I never said he did. Im saying funk is about what chords you use. Ppl automatically think that he you strum real fasy and play 9th's and dominants... you're playing funk. It's NOT a SOUND. It's a CONCEPT. It's that simple. And I dont have camera and even if I did I wouldnt make videos. Showing off doesn't make me feel better about my playing.

  • I meant to say it isnt about what chords you use

  • Haha. It's always the folks who don't own a camera or recording gear who are the biggest critics. I say post your own funk or quit criticizing.

  • It said how if you aren't praising somebody for their works you're automatically looked down upon. It'd be another thing if I said he sucked! The world is bigger than your view on things. I pointed something out and all of a sudden Im some time of villian. GROW UP!

  • If you say it is all conceptual, what is the exact concept you are talking about? Funk is absolutely a sound. All the 70s funk musicians sound similar because funk sounds a certain way. Just like blues sounds similar. One thing is for sure, Tomo Fujita is one of the best guitarists rythym wise that I have ever heard.

  • holy crap! hes genius! why have i never heard of him until i visited the eminence site?

  • is the Just Funky Tab in any of ur books??

if so, could u let me know which book it is in?

  • man i just need some funk chords... anyone got any for me?

  • any chord can be funky.. its how you play them. But all dominant chords are funky. some minor chords can be funky

  • Awesome!

  • What's sad is that John Mayer is rich, but Tomo is a far more talented player who actually taught him.

  • Yes but John Mayer sings :)

  • Tomo is the man. And you can totally hear his influence in John Mayer's playing- especially on the Try album.

  • wait this guy schooled john mayer...right..now i got it...

  • Does anyone know the tabs for the first 59 sec. of the demonstration, plz.

  • the first 59 seconds is a common blues shuffle try "hideaway" by freddie king, it's very simular

  • Ow man, he sure did listen to Paul Jackson Jr ! Awesome sound !

  • amazing funk technique!

  • he look a little like srv

  • this guy is awesome

  • that is the ultimate blues tone. that demonstration was ace

  • is this from a dvd? i might have to buy it...fujita is so super funky, if i ever get to berklee someday i would love to study with him

  • Tanks!! Tomo is so much good!

  • super, thanks for this
