Is it true that MS can detect the changed fan and ban your gamertag or console from access to xbox live for modding?

Ive heard that since the whisper max fans run at 12v unlike the stock fans which run at 5v that MS can tell theres something different through the power with the console.

its a myth mate, although it cant be proven 100%, the console might have the ability to measure voltage but even if it does it cant relay it back, turning the console on in a hot climate wold make it draw more power naturaly, and you dont hear millions of people in brazil getting banned...

My Xbox is 3 Years old today, and It is very quiet, I have just got the 2 red lights, and the Xbox is VERY well ventilated. and I think the Fan's are starting to fail, Would you say that this is a good fan that I could use to replace the factory fans? I'm not bothered about the noise, as long as the fan does it's job.

prove it because the jasper has 8% fail rate instead of 30%, with that being said the chances are really odd for you to get the red lights,but i still think it will happen, but hey the ps3 has 6% fail rate and it never breaks down, but what if you do a series of mods like the 12v mod and also add aditional fans like I will, overheating will not be an issue for me at all with all the stuff im going to do to mine. so if heat is not a problem for me, then what else is for me to get the red ring?

Is the 12V of any danger? My Xbox has the XClamp-fix mod and I'm deciding on whether using Talismoon Whisper or whisper max. What's better? I also have a Nyko Tempsmart. With the Fix, the TS, and a fan I hope to run my Xbox as cool as possible, but is the max really worth it? 'Cause I kinda feel more comfortable with the normal Talismoon now with this Xclamp fix mod and an external fan.

no it uses both lower (5 volts) and the same (12 volts) power as the stock fans do.

hey guys this is all looks good and nice on ya 360, but iv had my 360 since they came out and iv had no prob with it ! i know they say lie your 360 down so it dont scratch ya discs , but iv had mine up right on my unit since iv had it so all air can cerculate around it and iv never had a scratched disc yet ! or red ring of death just dont lie it on the carpet were it cant get air to cool its self , easy :)

stock fans are run at 6 volts normally. You can mod them to run at 12 volts which puts the maximum output flow of air higher, at the expensive of more sound and electricity. These fans have a switch that switches between the two voltages.

mine was a pain in the ass to install tho, the fan kept clicking, the LED's always fall out, it doesn't click properly into place, and i wasn't able to install the nitro switch the regular way, had to turn it vertical so the fan wouldn't click

and the nitro switch's button falls off whenever it's pressed, fyi

5. opening ur console isnt as big a deal as most people think dont get scared the xbox is almost unbreakable

not unless you do it right. ive opened my case plenty of times and even got the rrod and m$ didnt have a problem with my warrenty. use a hairdryer and exacto knife blade to remove the sticker and just reheat the adhesive and stick it back on when you're done installing the fan...works 100%.

its not true, my neighbours has modded his whole case, hes put a clear DVD drive in so you can see the game spinning, he took the fans out and put liquid cooling in to replace the fans and installed leds and floresant tubes. The thing looks crazy, he's not banned, it will your warrenty though.

I wasn't talking about noise, I was talking about effectiveness, and the stock fan port delivers more power then you would think, why do you think that the stock fans are auto-adjusting to cope for heat? Most of the time they don't run on full power, these won't either, except when running at "Nitro". And if you dont want noise, use a rotary tool and cut out the back vents on the case and metal casing, the air wont have to go through small holes, creating less noise, and that is true.
