Hey you guys, I have a SL also and to 'solve' the username & password thing is rather 'easy' (easy as it depends on you).

If you have an online acct with your phone co. the username and PW are the SAME ones you enter! Say I have T-mobile and it asks my user and pw so i use that

user: Jondoe

PW: ********

and whatever else it may require depending on where you live.

i am coming up with the same errors. but i am on tmobile. Now tmobile said they dont know anything about a password or user name but the plus side is u dont have to have a tethering plan with them. But i still cant get it to work. What am i doin wrong and come someone please just answer my question and dont say watch the video because in the video the issue wasnt resolved

i did this flawlessly on my nokia e71 with my carrier ATT/Cingular. Currently, I'm able to use the Unlimited MediaNet data plan to access my email, browse the internet, pay my bills etc. from the phone (the plan is $15 BTW) . is a tethering plan still a MUST have even though this works fine with this connection?

So ... there's a tethering plan? They didn't say ANYTHING about that when I asked them about tethering when I bought the phone yesterday. I talked to three different stores about this and asked every one about it. They all said ... oh sure, you can tether your phone to your mac. But now I'm hearing I need a tethering plan on top of my data plan? Dang ... they nickel and dime us to DEATH!

What about the "leaks OS"? Does that fix the issue?

i tend to stray away from the pearl, so i dont know which carrier the 8100 is under, but as far as i can think of is, does it have 3g, do you have any limitations within your plan.
