Absolutely want to have stiff soles! If you're hiking for long distances, especially over gravel-like surfaces, you're going to want the still soles or you'll start to feel every little stone, pebble and stick that you walk over. Your feet will thank you later for the stiffer soles today. Fact!
Awesome review! Man I hate my feet I went to the rei store and looked at marrell, keen, and 2 other ones and none were really comfortable I just need a wider boot but cant find the right one yet.
Just bought some Merrell Outbounds. Hope I made a good choice... I'm a size 11 but i bought 11 1/2 however, the size 12's fit me as well. I have a wide foot but with the size 12's i felt the crease at the toe was bending too much. Is it normal that one foot hurts more than the other because my left one kinda does. Great vid, keep it up!
thanks for doing this! I'm planning on getting a pair for the camino de Santiago which takes several weeks to complete. I'll see what I can find! Thanks again!!!
@MMVVK Awesome, glad to hear it! I hope you have a good trip and if you go to an REI or a mountain store they can also help you. Break them in before you go, maybe bring two pairs of shoes? Get used to walking before you go ;)
@H1KERcom: Cheers! i bought a really nice pair of Timberlands and have already been on a few walks since i posted this. They are extremely comfy but havent done any really long distance walks yet, will do that a couple of times before i finally head to Peru on 1st of June :D
@H1KERcom hey hey!! sorry for the late reply, was travelling around India when i saw ur reply and completely forgot to reply back. hmm... the Inca trail ...it was TOUGH! i got hit by altitude sickness while i was up there....so was completely out of breath during the upward climbs .... but glad i did it tho! :D
i had a lot more fun down in the Amazon jungle! i think i'm built for sea-level. :P
but the boots worked extremely well in both places so thanks again for the great advice! :)

Hooked on Merrell and just snagged two pairs of the "pivot" ez-lace. More will be in the home soon.
Any top brand recommendations for "everyday", athletic &hiking?
-lastly, any news on longer lasting toe socks?
Thanks!
