sadly Cookie passed away a little while ago ... a stroke we think. His temperature dropped so much, and he was freezing to death. It was really pretty sad. We now have Doc ..of course and a great guinea pig called Wasabi..thanks

you dont need FASTEST ..you need BESTEST

give them time

you know if you got a new roomate and they made their home in your house and you never knew them before ...you wouldnt feel to comfie either

make a conmfortable place for both of them and let them be next to each other where they can communicate

then give them FREE TIME out of the pen

(they should have plenty of that,.,.anyway)

and watch them..make sure they dont get violent

be upbeat,,,touch each one and let them smell your hand

i have a question... I got a new guinea pig to play with my other one but when i put my new pig in the pen my other pig makes a like mad or angrey sound and keeps chasing eachothers butt but when i seperate them they kept looking for eachother... do yu have any idea whats going on??

yes I do/.. they are fighting for dominance one will eventually win make sure no one is getting hurt you should not just put the other one in the pen.. they should be introduced slowly.. a little each day they'll still fight for dominance and probably mount each other they are fighting for territory its all natural Doc and Cookie are inseperable now. and they still screw around but if I separate them ..they flip out

What's a good size for a cage for 2 Guinea

pigs? I have one that's about 30"x14.5"x15.5

I know this is small, but is their any way I can expand it?

thats VERY Small

yes Go to C and c CAGE and build one like most of us have. My GP's are free but their pen is 3 feet by 4 feet or so

you get corplast from a sign store, cut it, tape it, buy some grids from bed bath and beyond or target and you;re all set.

Cookie came from the breeder with a towel

I quarantined him...

so when I moved him into the pen , I moved his towel so he could feel comfortable and have some of his familiar smells

My guinea pigs are free during the day

and my chinchillas are free at night

I do a lot of steam cleaning of the carpets.

These guys even when they learn where to poop etc..will do it anytime , anywhere they want

its part of the fun!

Thank you..Doc and Cookie have settled in very nicely. Today he taught him how to be free in my bedroom. Everyti,e cookie tried to retreat to the pen Doc pushed him out to the room. It was one of the most endearing things Ive ever seen.

I once took care of 11 guinea pigs, some were adopted, and when one in a pair died, i found the best thing to cheer the lonely one up was to find them a new companion. In no time, they were purring away. When it was down to just one, my big white bunny had to do for a companion to that one and he didn't mind it at all. Now they're all gone. So sad but they lived a good long life.

Actually on my way home (cookie was one hour away) I saw my vet and he gave us a special towel to keep him warm. To make his transition to the pen easier after quarantine, I moved the "diaper" with him.
