You attach to the cables which are all at various heights and angles. Gravity takes over but you can slow yourself down if you use your hand on the cable above you. The gloves have a special thick spot on the palm to grab the cable with. You pull down to brake.
Those rolls are only driven on gravitation and people's weight, right?
