I saw Mr. Thompson and the band in a small club in Vancouver around '83-'84 and stood right in front him and watched his hands the entire night. I know that sounds like a strange thing to do, but his guitar was right in front of my face and being able to focus on his unique technique was just too good an opportunity to miss. I have been waiting for that opportunity to arise again ever since.
Seen him 9 times, first in 1982. His shows are quite simply the greatest live performances I have every seen by a popular musiician. Thank god for RT!
@Gooseberry51 Don't know this particular gig tape, but the song was performed live on his '72 tour with Linda, between the release of 'Fly' and 'Bright Lights'.....I'm not sure he's performed it since. There is a tape of this song from Durham '72, but this is a different performance.
@gummoboy333 I have too. Not that long ago in St. Petersburg, Florida. I felt very, very privileged.I got the clue to go from my brother, who is also a musician, and a huge Richard Thompson fan. He even has been to Cropredy. Thanks, bro. I owe you!

At the time they were a band of 4. Call 'emselves Hokey Pokey. There was Richard (of course ) Linda, Simon Nichol and "Percy"
Percy was a bass contraption, that Richard played . It was like a keyboard for the feet .
