He was hard, edgy, but soft all at the same time...in a mix that was just so; the perfect Doctor for that time, and the one that put the series back into prominence. You can say a lot of things 'bout the short tenure of no.9 and most have been said, so I'll just say that for how short a ride it was; I think everyone can agree...that he really, truly was ''Fantastic''
Chris...you were awesome...you ARE the Ninth Doctor and u have REBORN the greatest scifi franchise in history. Now get to the BBC!! You have work to do for the 50th!!!
the only reason most people love Tennant more than Eccleston is because Tennant stuck around longer. I personally didn't have the time to grow fond of Nine, even thoug Eccleston was amazing and funny and an awesome Doctor. Granted, Ten will always be *my* Doctor and his regeneration was one of the few things on tv or in cinema to touch me in a heartbreaking way, but Nine was FANTASTIC.
Amazing tribute by the way. The song's so fitting, leaves me with a big smile on my face every time :)
I love the ninth doctor its a shame he gets forgotten just because he only was in one season. As much as the tenth doctor is my doctor...the ninth doctor introduced me to the brilliance that is known as doctor who P:
christopher Eccleston was my Favorite Doctor of all times, I wish had had stayed a little long, but I LOVE David Tennant, I'd don't Really Care much For Matt Smith though...
@1hotsummernight I didn't care for Matt Smith in the beginning but he's grown on me. He's no tenth doctor or even ninth doctor that for sure but, i have to say he puts an interesting spin on the doctors character.
@amirizar2012 Yeah, he's been growing on me some, but he'll never be my doctor I think part of my problem with him that he doesn’t have the raw emotion the David had. With the 10th doctor so much happened, with Matt he's a whole new doctor. also When the 9th regenerated to the 10th it wasn't sad or traumatic, so we loved David because it didn't feel like we were losing Christopher, but it was really sad when the 10th regenerated into the 12, so I think that might have something to do with it.
@1hotsummernight I agree with your comment too...I miss the raw emotion DT gave to the tenth doctor. I was an emotional mess after watching DT's final episode....I just lost it when Wilf (I think that's how the name is spelled) realized what's happening to the doctor. When he started crying i just lost it. I'd heard Last of the time lords was sad near the end but whew it was plain depressing to me.
@1hotsummernight So while Matt Smith is not the same as David was he's pretty good Esp near the end of the Big bang Esp when he's talking to little Amelia about times they had and would never have. That was the moment i truly warmed up to him as the 11th doctor he played a old mind with a young appearance so well. He plays a tired of man perfectly. I still miss the tenth doctor though and it truly felt like losing an old friend when he left.
@amirizar2012 Matt Smith is easily the most Doctor-like Doctor that New Who has given us, and I believe that's why lots of fans of the post 2005 show don't seem to fond of him.
Smith's interpretation of the role is obviously inspired by Patrick Troughton with a moderate dollop of post-Delta and the Bannermen Sylvester McCoy thrown in, arguably the two most layered and "alien" of the Doctor's previous incarnations...
@BillyIsATwat23 i like smith and i will admit i've never seen doctor who from before 2005 for shame i know whoever plays the doctor i won't hate them like it seems a lot of people do. sure it might take me longer to truly get a feel for their character . it took me awhile to warm up to smith but when i did i truly loved him as the 11th doctor. i still have a soft spot for david tennant but i find it ridicules when people keep comparing him to Matt Smitth....to them i say hes gone lets move on!
@amirizar2012 ... And who was Tennant inspired by? Peter Davidson. The most human and easy to relate to of all the Doctors.
On top of that not only was Tennant reasonably attractive he also joined the show at it's most popular and got to star in some genuine classic episodes (Human Nature & Girl In the Fireplace come to mind), hence he is fondly remembered.
@BillyIsATwat23 those are my favorite episodes of his.... the end of the girl in the fireplace always makes me cry then again a lot of his episodes do that...
I sort of hate how a lot of people don't really know about him or care for him, but then I get all happy cause it's sort of like he's my doctor all to myself (and the rest of you xD)
Only the Ninth Doctor could make wrestling the remote control from a baby look so stylish and funny. Eccelston was and always will be the man who set the stage for Doctor Who's legendary return to TV.
2nd favourite Doctor. Chris could be both wonderfully warm and welcoming and extremely intimidating. I love how he was "healed" over the course of the series.
@TaffTalk Yeah Christopher was a brute of a dcotor which was a nice change to see him kick some ass but then DT came along and started disapproving of all violence which was pretty demented and unnecessary oh and who are you calling emo? Matt? DT was WAY MORE EMO and by the end of his run he was moping about everything and he didn't seem a "Guilt ridden old man". Matt is very alien alike Patrick Troughton and Sylvester McCoy

Another fantastic tribute by "Babelcolour". This was the second "Doctor" tribute I found on here and I think I like it more than your "Second Doctor" one. The music for this one just makes you feel electric inside! :-D
i think chris should've had more time as the doctor- he was funny, energetic, everything the doctor should be, yet he didn't have enough time to get his message across. thumbs up for chris :)
I loved nine so much, he could be so playful yet so serious also the great chemistry between him and Rose which was carried on into ten...they were both brilliant...er, fantastic!
Fantastic tribute! This just makes me miss him a million times more than I already do. I really wish he would have stayed longer. He was my first Doctor and one of my absolute favorites.
@nhaer042 I completely agree. I don't even love love love him. But he's one of the best. IMO. INFACT the anniversary coming up should take place in his time before Rose where he meets 10 and 11. Maybe. Idk. But doctor that has left me wanting more.
@nhaer042 I agree. I love 10, I love how much time they gave him, but they could have drawn out 9's time a LOT more and still have kept all the great 10 moments. This guy was brilliant, I miss him.
The 9th Doctor was amazing! With Christopher, it's not just his raw acting talen, but also his expressions and line delivery. The man is the absolute for me! What I love about this video is your fantastic timing of the scenes to the music! This is excellent, excellent work and will definitely be looking for more of your work!
nine was my favorite, he was just so cool, and Rose, him, and Jack were like my dream team. I wish Christopher Eccleston had stayed just a year longer, at least.
This is yet another stellar job! Babel Colour, you're brilliant! I wish, too, he would have stayed another year! I've always said that he took a television sci-fi character that hadn't been seen on television in a long while and turned him into an action hero of epic proportions!
@JediPug1 Eccleston was my first exposure to Dr Who as well. If not for his stellar performance i would never have gotten interested in Dr Who at all. All of the Doctors were good and had their strong points (especially Tom Baker) but Christopher Eccleston will always be my favorite.
david tennant was amazing but one of the reasons i like christopher is he only lasted one season which makes him that much more special just like the 7th and 8th
@Hamakeis BzAr682 did understand...the person was being sarcastic kind of.. meaning 'how could people dislike this!' I hope I cleared that up for you.
@Hamakeis you nob! He said that becoz this video is so good that it shouldn't of been disliked. you're just not a proper dr who fan and you're not welcome here!
@Hamakeis Look you probably know more bout dr who then me, i'm fine with that. But when a fan likes a vid. Its meant to be so good that whoever dislikes it will go to hell. it's just a thing coz they LOVE dr who. you may know more but they may love it more
@Hamakeis the problem is that i get it but why accept it? Seriously. the prob is that if you love dr who you'd question the anal heads who dislike this vid. im not worrying but when i read your thing i worried that your trying to act like the doctor and not a fan. you're trying to act like the doctor and for that...DONT TRY TO ACT LIKE THAT! it pisses people off and u think your awesome., well dont! good night folks
@Smallvillenerd : I'm not a genius, but I'm intelligent enough to be against all form of violence (physical or verbal) towards people who don't deverse this.
And, if a people doesn't have the same liking than fans of a TV show about that show, they doesn' t deserve to be ostracized.
I'm not acting like the doctor contrary of what you think. I'm acting like an normal decent human with a medium IQ should act.
@Hamakeis well maybe you shouldn't act like that, perfect boy! Wel if a non fan who barely knows anything of the show watches a fanvid and thumbs it down well that is pretty retarded. coz they haven't even seen it! you are actually verbally abusing me in a very disguised manner. Dude you are being so perfect and annoying, A true fan would be disgraced at this and yes i got it before you told me: people dont like the vid so they thumb it down and all that jazz but Im being a fan so beat it!
@Hamakeis the problem is that i get it but why accept if you love dr who you'd question the anal heads who dislike this vid. im not worrying but when i read your thing i worried that your trying to act like the doctor and not a fan. you're trying to act like the doctor and for that...DONT TRY TO ACT LIKE THAT! it pisses people off and u think your awesome., well dont! good night folks btw its Whoniverse, not Whoverse. sounds pretty pro coming from someone who knows more then me
this video actually made me wanna go and watch his whole series again, i wasnt too big into who when he was doing it but got big into it when tennant took over but now as a bigger fan i think he did an awesome job and wonder how the next series would have turned out if he done it instead of tennant.....i think every doctor brings some awesome qualities to it, shame he didn't do more i think.
In the words of David Tennant... "He[Christopher Eccleston] was fantastic. I wouldn't be here if he hadn't been so fantastic in it and made the series a hit."
After years, and one Doctor Who television movie; it is resurrected. It is the 21st century, year 2005; the United States had gone through a technology revolution, the Space Station going up, the Space Shuttle matured, the Internet went public, personal computers are common, television market is about to change to a new advance broadcast standard, the Internet is in rapid growth and is about to compete with television, sexual values has dramatic change. New stuff, even Billie Piper is popular.
Okay, you're keeping me from finishing one of my own vids but I couldn't resist this! You've captured one of the things I loved best about Eccleston's Doctor... yeah, he was a bit darker at times but then there was the big goofy lovable 9 as well. This made me laugh and miss him all over again. Definitely a favorite!
The song was very cheesy, but it surprising matched Nine's style of humor - quirky and gentle. I really miss Nine, after watching this. Though I do love David Tennant's acting, I must say that I love Chris Eccleston's subtle style more. Always giving the doctor moments of warmth and genuine emotion, but never going over the top like Tennant.
the ninth doctor was my frist doctor. so he holds a special place in my heart. i started big time with tenth then now im a lover of doctor who so thanks to the great ninth doctor to start a love for doctor who endless to me
Guys, the only reason he didn't stay was because the original series was cancelled, and so the producers only hired him for a season because they were concerned that the show would be a flop...oh ye of tiny, tiny faith...I may love Tenant and Smith, but Ecclestion was Harriet's Doctor, he was your Doctor, he was my Doctor, he was OUR Doctor...
@Dawning0angel Actually, the two varying accounts as to why he left was that 1) He was afraid that if he remained in the role of the Doctor too long that he'd be typecast and 2) He accounted that he felt he was being overworked by the BBC and left because he felt exhausted from it all. Whether these are true or not, I've yet to see any account that he was only signed on for the one season because they were afraid that a new series would flop.
I can't believe he only did one season. He was the first doctor I ever saw and by fare my absolute favorite. Maybe someday he may try out for dr. who again. If we are very very lucky.
Ah the Ninth I want to say he's my Doctor but sadly he's not my favorite but without him I wouldn't have gotten into the show and have learned about the classic series. If only we got one more season out of him.
I'm torn. I really don't like the song, but the video is so good, and the clips fit so perfectly with it, I found myself actually enjoying it! It's just the style of the music really, not even the lyrics. . . 5/5 overall, and I have a feeling I'm going to be humming this at work next week :)
The episodes with rose were the best in the new series. The first series were so good because ninth is easily the best doctor and the second series was good because Rose and the tenth had great funny moments together. 3&4 are good too, but the first two are so good that it's hard to top them
omg watching this just reminds me how fantastic he was, I guess like most of us david makes us forget. but lol I find 1:01 making me laugh everytime xDDD and lol nice song to him!
I love both the guys equaly. I prefer David but thats cause Iv'e known him as the Doctor longer. I remember thinking I would neveeeer love David! But I did lolx, thats why Im gonna give Matt Smith a chance.
as a fellow scot i do like david tennant and he is a great actor however chris with his common nothern charm wins hands done for me as the doctor so sad only 13 episodes
*Sigh* My favorite Doctor. There was just something about him...I don't even know how to describe it. I remember when I first saw the new series, it was the third episode airing on SciFi (I refuse to call it SyFy). I was immediately hooked and literally screamed when he regenerated. I was ready to despise David, but I ended up loving him too and my parents readily embraced him as their favorite, but I'll always love Chris best. They need to do a special with him in it.
@avelione As a professional actor, Chris was afraid that working on Doctor Who for too long might lead to him being Typecast. As this tends to happen to most DW actors, I don't blame him!
But yeah, The Ninth Doctor was serious, silly and funny, in equal measure. His doc was absolutely awesome :)
@kaledmasterme Well... it depends on actor, I think that David Tennant will manage to go with his career :> but yep, the rest of actors seemed to stuck... you have to be briliant to overcome the glow of DW roles ha! :D
I think if Chris had stayed for another season he would have been well routed in the minds of even the most casual fans and there wouldn't be as much Tennent worship as there is now,
Eccleston was the perfect Dr to bring back the show. He'll go down in history as one of the absolute best, and much underrated, after Tennant's flambouyance. Eccleston had everything - depth, emotion, everything. I would have loved it if he'd done another series, then bring in Tennant. REALLY looking forward to Smith!
9 and 10 are MY Doctors. I can never choose which one I love the most because just when I'm certain I prefer Tennant over Eccleston, I rewatch a 9th Doctor episode (or a Babelcolour tribute) and fall in love all over again.
BabelColour for the 12th Doctor!

How did 17 people miss the like button??
BzAr682 1 year ago 2
@BzAr682 : They didn't miss it. They just disliked the vids and press the 'dislike' button accordingly.
If you miss the button, you can always correct later.
I hope it is more clear now.

@Hamakeis BzAr682 did understand...the person was being sarcastic kind of.. meaning 'how could people dislike this!' I hope I cleared that up for you.
DoctorwhoXMangafan 1 year ago
@Hamakeis you nob! He said that becoz this video is so good that it shouldn't of been disliked. you're just not a proper dr who fan and you're not welcome here!
Smallvillenerd 1 year ago
@Smallvillenerd : you idiot.
People are allowed to dislike whatever they want.
What do think the Doctor would think about your integrism and lack of tolerance ?
You are too stupid to be a doctor fan, go away and come back when you get a brain.
Hamakeis 1 year ago
@Hamakeis maybe you should go away until you actually know things bout the old series and new series. shame on you!
Smallvillenerd 1 year ago
@Smallvillenerd : Again you are so undoctor ...
Like you the doctor say he's the bestest and know everything better than everyone (with the possible exception of 5, 7 and 8)
Unlike you, the doctor PROVES his claims ...
I read the tardis : all episodes, fact, mistake, novel, audio, spin-off.
I know why 1 search his words, why 3 has a tatoo, why we'll never see 8 regenerate to 9.
I know so much and you so little, and I can prove it.
Don't make a fool of yourself, stop writing here. Please.
Hamakeis 1 year ago
@Hamakeis well if you were a true and you say you are then why diss the vid?
Smallvillenerd 1 year ago
@Smallvillenerd : I don't ! I like it !
BUT I'm clever enough to know that what one likes can be disliked by others !
They disliked the vid ... I don't know why ... And I don't agree with them ... But I respect their opinion, their choice.
It's not because people doesn't have the same taste than me, (than us) they deserve to be insulted.
Insulting someone for this not intelligence, it is integrism and fanatism ... Two thing that I REALLY dislike.
Hamakeis 1 year ago
@Hamakeis Look you probably know more bout dr who then me, i'm fine with that. But when a fan likes a vid. Its meant to be so good that whoever dislikes it will go to hell. it's just a thing coz they LOVE dr who. you may know more but they may love it more
Smallvillenerd 1 year ago
@Smallvillenerd : Maybe ... maybe not.
The problem isn't if i love DrWho or not.
The problem is if YOU can understand that other people can dislike what you like and understanding this, don't feel menaced by them.
Look 513+/19-, that show the vids rocks ! for each dislike there is 27 like !
Enjoy the show, the Whoverse and this vids.
The disliker miss something really great, but it's their choice and they don't have to be criticized for this.
The glass is 27/28 full and 1/28 empty, enjoy !
Hamakeis 1 year ago
@Hamakeis the problem is that i get it but why accept it? Seriously. the prob is that if you love dr who you'd question the anal heads who dislike this vid. im not worrying but when i read your thing i worried that your trying to act like the doctor and not a fan. you're trying to act like the doctor and for that...DONT TRY TO ACT LIKE THAT! it pisses people off and u think your awesome., well dont! good night folks
Smallvillenerd 1 year ago
@Smallvillenerd : I'm not a genius, but I'm intelligent enough to be against all form of violence (physical or verbal) towards people who don't deverse this.
And, if a people doesn't have the same liking than fans of a TV show about that show, they doesn' t deserve to be ostracized.
I'm not acting like the doctor contrary of what you think. I'm acting like an normal decent human with a medium IQ should act.
Hamakeis 1 year ago
@Hamakeis well maybe you shouldn't act like that, perfect boy! Wel if a non fan who barely knows anything of the show watches a fanvid and thumbs it down well that is pretty retarded. coz they haven't even seen it! you are actually verbally abusing me in a very disguised manner. Dude you are being so perfect and annoying, A true fan would be disgraced at this and yes i got it before you told me: people dont like the vid so they thumb it down and all that jazz but Im being a fan so beat it!

this video actually made me wanna go and watch his whole series again, i wasnt too big into who when he was doing it but got big into it when tennant took over but now as a bigger fan i think he did an awesome job and wonder how the next series would have turned out if he done it instead of tennant.....i think every doctor brings some awesome qualities to it, shame he didn't do more i think.

Would have loved to see him do a few more series, but too be fair we might not have seen david tennant as doctor if he had, which would be a travesty

WOWJBEOWULF 1 year ago
Okay, you're keeping me from finishing one of my own vids but I couldn't resist this! You've captured one of the things I loved best about Eccleston's Doctor... yeah, he was a bit darker at times but then there was the big goofy lovable 9 as well. This made me laugh and miss him all over again. Definitely a favorite!
hoodatwhatzit 1 year ago
The song was very cheesy, but it surprising matched Nine's style of humor - quirky and gentle. I really miss Nine, after watching this. Though I do love David Tennant's acting, I must say that I love Chris Eccleston's subtle style more. Always giving the doctor moments of warmth and genuine emotion, but never going over the top like Tennant.

Dawning0angel 1 year ago
@Dawning0angel Actually, the two varying accounts as to why he left was that 1) He was afraid that if he remained in the role of the Doctor too long that he'd be typecast and 2) He accounted that he felt he was being overworked by the BBC and left because he felt exhausted from it all. Whether these are true or not, I've yet to see any account that he was only signed on for the one season because they were afraid that a new series would flop.
Vlorsutes 1 year ago
I can't believe he only did one season. He was the first doctor I ever saw and by fare my absolute favorite. Maybe someday he may try out for dr. who again. If we are very very lucky.

he was quite a good doctor my first too.
i'm saddened also that he didn't stay on for another series.
But without him we wouldn't have had david!!

IaraGhost 2 years ago
*Sigh* My favorite Doctor. There was just something about him...I don't even know how to describe it. I remember when I first saw the new series, it was the third episode airing on SciFi (I refuse to call it SyFy). I was immediately hooked and literally screamed when he regenerated. I was ready to despise David, but I ended up loving him too and my parents readily embraced him as their favorite, but I'll always love Chris best. They need to do a special with him in it.
LacyLuvsGodiva 2 years ago 8
Why was he a doctor for such a short time? Tennant is brilliant, but the 9th should have more time, he has much more warmth inside.
Tennant reminds me of the first Doctror, a bit psychopatic from time to time. Ninth Doctor is like much more caring

oh.... thank you for the answer. I do not like Billie that much to read her biography ;P
avelione 2 years ago
@avelione As a professional actor, Chris was afraid that working on Doctor Who for too long might lead to him being Typecast. As this tends to happen to most DW actors, I don't blame him!
But yeah, The Ninth Doctor was serious, silly and funny, in equal measure. His doc was absolutely awesome :)
kaledmasterme 2 years ago
@kaledmasterme Well... it depends on actor, I think that David Tennant will manage to go with his career :> but yep, the rest of actors seemed to stuck... you have to be briliant to overcome the glow of DW roles ha! :D
