@yuu7073 watch how he licks his finger before sliding it across the head. the saliva helps to create friction, causing the head to vibrate. he hits the head to prevent the friction from lagging. try it, it's easier than it looks :)

Jeez this guy's like a human metronome. Every single hit is spot on. Its amazing because he's not listening to a click track and at certain points there are segments in the backing track where there are only beeps or stabs as reference points.

Hmm, he used what's called a "lions roar" on his high tom, it is mainly used on a concert bass drum or timpano and produces a deep low "growl" or "roar" if you will and therefore gives it its name. I have not seen it used on a smaller drum, but it turned out to be interesting.

It's possible at low tunings as well. It's similar to a tambourine roll. Your finger has to create those vibrations along the head while still pushing down on the head to create the pitch elevation.

The technique used at 1:59 is called a "moose call." Search and you should find some good videos on how it's accomplished. There's some other video with Jojo where he's in a smaller venue and he uses the same technique.

1:59 he uses the end of the brush, which is rounded and the end in order to get that sound. If you watch closely you can see him kinda push that in there but he is using his hand to cover it. HE is a mentor of perfection. A man of one talent on many scales of wonder. He is the epitome of BAMF.
