  • I done this in my class with the maths books. My teacher wasn happy when he couldnt pull them apart :L

  • K the reason this happens is cause as your pulling one side . Ur also putting force on it but then holds the other book in between that

  • @chatochafa130 no, it's simple friction.

  • @spunkets you are so annoying

  • @spunkets you're joking right?

  • Its about time lol

  • Now we know how to separate two phonebooks. Our IQ's have increased by 2 full points.

From here, its just a small step before we'll learn how to stop killing people in another country, or hating people b/c of their color.

Progressive evolution right before your eyes!

  • @spunkets Iq has nothing to do with how much you know but instead how much information you can retain. So if enything you would have to IQ points less since you now have less room in your head.

  • @Rockwarrior2004

Proof read your shit before posting you impossible retard.

  • @spunkets well aside form enything and to. Everything is spelled correctly. And to is spelled correctly just the wrong two used.

  • @Rockwarrior2004

    U tipe reel gud

  • We did this in school and it was so annoying!!

  • very good

  • that is cool that a car can't even pull them apart!!!

  • They FOUND a couple of tanks. why don't I never find things like that?

  • @0rangeNinja they're hufflepuffs

  • it tooks 800 ponds. LOL FAIL

  • @CatsAttack73 8000 pounds dick

  • wow it takes two tanks to seperate phonebook. :O

  • R the two covers taped together?

  • @007nikul it's so the front+ back pages don't just fall apart from themselves because if they did so would the rest of the pages and it would all unravel or w/e you'd call it :P

  • Tried this with my history and business book. Both very thick. Omg. IMPOSSIBLE. haha

  • @NoviceOfTheRock also tried it with with two pendragon books.................. never read those two copies again

  • so, I learned that you cannot hold a tank with two phonebooks.

  • Thank you for posting! I missed the end of the episode, and was waiting for the tanks and I got distracted during a commercial break and two hours later, I realized ACK! I MISSED THE TANKS! So thanks again. So much. : )

  • 2 people cant do it,a group of people also cant,we bring out the cars and that still did not work...what esle we got ?...we got tanks, lol!

  • quero ver você faça um jeito que uns trens assim.....

    [riso]

  • in soviet russia you dont tear phone books... phone books rip you

  • HYDROGEN BONDS!!

  • I would think using tanks constitute as cheating.

  • hahahaha. "... we went out and found a couple tanks" I love it.

  • Tap 3 quickly and prepare to laugh your ass off

  • @FreddyTheJumpingCat Its a little thing called FRICTION

  • @FreddyTheJumpingCat Just try it your self. Worked easy with much thinner phone books than those. At least no way to pull them apart.

  • @FreddyTheJumpingCat it works i did it in school with 2 algebra textbooks :)

  • @csaw12 Me too! But with 2 500 pages science books!

  • @csaw12 they have different texture within the pages tho

  • @csaw12 HOLY CRAP ME 2. *high fives*

  • @123goofyking *high fives back*

  • found a couple of tanks!? yea right, you mean borrowed them!? ahha i wanna find a tank!

  • @xXShadowRejectsXx press ESC, write panzer or giveusatank

  • Myth: Busted.

  • they shouldnt stand so close to a pull chain, people need to use pull ropes

  • Does this remind you of when you used to count money for the mob?

    I was a hitman, I didn't count money.

  • Wow thats crazy

  • Omg, love them :D.

"I was trying to make a phone call... That's... all I wanted to do..."

    They can NOT be serious!

  • @homiedog8490 What are you talking about?

  • @KIGENTS He said that your putting up with the other people's poor grammar.

  • @JKelballin Well there's not much i can do about it.

  • Mythbusters in a nutshell.

  • Adam: "Does this remind of when you used to count money for the mob?"

Jamie: "I was a hitman, I wasn't the money counter".

    Gotta love those two.

  • they could have gotten some minivans or even 18 wheelers, before going to tanks

  • @pyrochemists Tanks are way cooler.

  • @pyrochemists

Why waste more money when they will end up using tanks anyway.

  • @pyrochemists is a minivan really that much more powerful than a small car? cmon dude

  • i remember that i was always doing this in class with my books when i was a kid xD

i didn't even knew it was a myth lol

  • yeah partially busted my ass who is going to get tanks and besides yes it didn't separate is confirmed

  • The phonebooks didnt separate they ripped at the spine from one side so there for the pages didnt come apart they need to revisit this again!!!

  • @TheNorw862 This

  • i just did it and my mom got mad cause i couldnt get them apart hahahaa

  • original myth by two dutch students!!

  • it looks like a japanese anime hahah its auta sync

  • "I was trying to make a phone call... that's... all I wanted to do..."

    Priceless!! xD

  • this actually works with any chapter book , i did it at my cuzins house with his captain underpants book :)

  • @Funnyobros lol i remember when i loved that series!D

  • what if you got 2 jet fighters to do that?

  • I bet the army guys found this hilarious.

  • friction ftw

  • try a tactical nuke!

  • @usbfuse As Jamie said, "When in doubt, C4" You just took it one step further, "When C4 doesn't work, Tactical Nukes!"

  • we have no official beaten nature

  • friction+bigger surface area+more paper=a hard thing to pull

  • how many newton is 8000 pound?

  • @kmncztms - 35,585 Newtons!

  • Got word from TimSmit, right? Stealing assholes.

  • its all that one piece of electric tape

  • I was trying to make a phone call, that's all I wanted to do - lol

  • you can always count on adam man.. Dont worry we got fkin tanks!!

    your thinking: oh lord..

  • I wouldn't doubt if he was a hitman lol

  • if they used a real vehicle other than those stupid little cars it could have done it. Couple pick up truck in 4x4 lo on pavement would have done it easily.

  • @Rlnthndr You know you're a redneck when...

  • wow.... they found some tanks....were was that, an army base

  • @SuperDeathskull Tank Museum. :D

  • @KIGENTS private collection not museum.

  • @KIGENTS I thought that it was a privet collector.

  • @KIGENTS Ok my bad.

  • Comment removed

  • @KIGENTS Private collection as seen here YAHkEsyUpPE fast forward to 4:10 for an outside view. I swear I had seen the place before and a quick search found that video (Unrelated to my initial viewing though)

  • @KIGENTS Actually, it was some guy's private collection.

  • @SuperDeathskull no jacques littlefields tank collection

  • LOL WTF man , they mythbusters guys are hardcore O.Oll. mechanics fail , people fail , car fail , tanks LOL wut ?!

  • Actually the tanks did not separate the phone book I think it was just friction between two papers together as under a microscope you can see that paper are not smooth but rough.

If u see the paper carefully you might find that the paper have some dots on it

  • @enuice00 if the tanks didn't pull apart the book, what did? God?

    you fucking moron.

  • @danw087 If you look carefully nearly at the end of the video it's only the side that was rip off the rest of the phone book is still with the other phone book there is no change

  • Lol at 0:50

  • Actually, the phones books (the pages of them) did not in fact seperate. The ends of the books ripped off before any of the pages actaully started to pull apart. Watch here 1:32 . YOu can see the ripped book end.

  • nice audio sync

  • friction is awesome!!!!! i do not know how simple pieces of paper can create so much friction between each other, which is also awesomely curious!!!

  • OK NOW REMEMBER KIDS... tanks > phonebooks MKAY?

  • CHUCK NORRIS COULD PULL THEM APART!!!!!!

  • there r micro fibers in the paper

  • there r micro fibers in the paper

  • I did that with 2 math books (300 pages each)...they woulden't separate...

  • @melculrapid Top two 950 page science books.

  • harsh people!!! ok so the myth is that if you flip a phonebook page over page so that they are all interlaced, that the two phonebooks can't be separated. There's no glue or anything. just paper friction

  • are they like... glued together? How do they stay together like that?

  • @TheDudeMan130

    Watch the Episode.

  • @KIGENTS

What season and which episode is it?

  • @KIGENTS Static friction..definitely no glue..

  • @fjbutch I know. no glue is right..

  • @TheDudeMan130 the force of friction between 2000 pages adds up.

  • @g0rsk13g4n9st4 I guess so... but I dont see the weight there keeping them together... an entire phone book weighs like... 4 or 5 pounds.

  • @TheDudeMan130 I don't think that the total weight of the pages matters - it's all about the total surface area which, in this case, is huge.

  • @g0rsk13g4n9st4 I suppose if you put it that way it... kinda makes sense lol

  • @TheDudeMan130 FRICTION!!! damn...

  • @TheDudeMan130 they just layerd the sheets onto eachother and the friction kept it together

  • @TheDudeMan130 Its just the power of the friction. Each page does not have a lot, but all together it adds up to a pretty impressive amount of force needed.

  • @TheDudeMan130 try that with your notebooks and you will notice how hard it is..

  • @TheDudeMan130 simple friction. nothing more.

it's impressive, isn't it? i was astounded when they did this episode.

  • @TheDudeMan130 They interlocked all the pages one by one, so that the combined friction of all the pages rubbing against eachother was so much that it was extremely difficult to pull apart.

  • @TheDudeMan130 Look at title. See the word "Friction"?

  • at the end of the episode is busted...why i mean its 2 TENKS!!

  • They should try a 5000 page encyclopedia.

  • One time I did that to me and my friends books at school. I left because I didn't need my book until the next day, he needed it next hour. He was pissed at science.

  • so the myth is that its near impossible to pull apart two phone books whos pages have been shuffles together like a deck of cards?

  • I tryed to seperate a normal 200 page book, aint gonna work

  • The funny thing is that one of the phonebooks tore before the joint but the joint created by the two phonebooks remained intact. lol

  • isn't that just the best sentence; ......"so we went out and got a couple of tanks"

  • @alfonsomunoz35 ok phonebooks with anti-flammable protection... better?

  • wow i think it would be a good idea to build everiting from phone books, it would be almost indestructible xD

  • @UndeadLromor but could be flammable

  • Wonder how much force it would take if it was a bigger pair of phonebooks ^^

  • I figured it out. All you need to do is hold the spine of the books vertically (from the top) and pull very gently. I did what it took two tanks to do.

  • you obviously dont understand the point of the myth.

  • @Warrior536 Why's that?

  • The point is to split them without bending them so the friction is at it max.

  • @Warrior536 Fair enough.

  • I tried it and I can't get it apart!!!

  • what would they try if the tanks didn't seperate them

  • Probably jets. Or some like military grade engine (i.e. troop carriers {The Huge ones})

  • @majinnemesis the moon and the earth lol

  • They would try what Mythbuster always tries. Blow it up.

  • or get to airplanes and see what happens

  • @majinnemesis jets

  • @majinnemesis We'd start building tanks from phonebooks!

  • @majinnemesis

they would of explodid them mythbusters style :>)

  • @majinnemesis Two F16 :D

  • @majinnemesis a plane

  • @majinnemesis a pair of scissors

  • @majinnemesis

    FIGHTER JETS!!!!

  • @majinnemesis Space shuttles?

  • @majinnemesis Rockets?

  • @majinnemesis Planes, Trains, but not automobiles

  • @majinnemesis

    I'd guess an airplane

  • @majinnemesis fighter jets

  • @majinnemesis a nuclear bomb would be only way! BURN THE FUCKERS!

  • @majinnemesis JETS lol

  • @majinnemesis

    airplanes

  • @majinnemesis Explosives, of course. :)

  • @majinnemesis Explosives, of course. :)

  • @majinnemesis

they would use rockets, probably :D

  • @majinnemesis airplanes

  • @majinnemesis plane? that giant digger thing that has idk a few 10k horse power? maybe more?

  • @majinnemesis Haha maybe jets or rockets but they would be burned :D
