So if you are using your mac for any kind of editing at all...Audio/video. Spend the extra money on the hard drive. It runs more than twice as fast as the 7200rpm drives. An if you are editing... you know more than most... TIME IS MONEY. So remember... if you want real massive speed, you want a... solid state primary drive.
@thereviewman7777 It costs a fortune to do it through Apple. Eventually I'll put 16 gigs in it. But I'm building a car so all my money goes there lol.
I'm a little worried the iMac I ordered will be too slow. I've always been a Mac user, but I was thinking of buying a gaming PC, only I decided to once again go with a Mac. I chose the iMac 27", i7 3.4GHz with the 2GB of AMD Radeon 6970M VRAM and 4GB RAM. The video card is usually made for mobile laptops, as it can be found in Alienware's high spec laptops. I'm worried that it won't be fast enough to run Crysis 2 and the Sims 3 on the highest settings, any thoughts?
@NATB100 Well I'm not much of a gamer, more of a video editing person. However I put GTA IV on it for about a month and I think that's a pretty graphic intensive game but I'm not really sure. I only have the single gig video card (which I really regret getting instead of the 2.....) and I think if I remember right could play GTA on full specs at 1920x1080 and had to lower the settings just a hair (and I mean just a hair) to play at the full iMac resolution. But again it's been awhile.
@UnItEdDeAtH01 I received it at christmas. Let me put it this way, it runs Crysis at 1920x1080 Max settings at a very smooth fps. The screen is perfect, and I spent the whole week after christmas day playing both Mass Effects with this computer. I strongly recommend it.
@NATB100 Sweet. I wasn't going to bother with gaming but i'm tempted to try now when i get mine! What are the specs you have though? I just ordered and am currently waiting for my 27" 3.4ghz with 1gb graphics (standard HDD not SSD)
@divad435 Mine is pretty much the same, only I have the 2Gb of graphics. It runs Mirror's Edge at 40fps on all max settings at native resolution (2560x1440), which is really good. I'm not sure how much that extra 1Gb Gives, but it shouldn't be too much slower.

I don't know if your trolling or just stupid when you get into talking about gaming on a Mac vs a PC..... Sure a Mac has a nice resolution.... But only runs games at around 100 or lower frames...... I'm happy with hitting 250 frames on my pc......
@TragicTopGun50 First of all. Saying trolling makes you a complete fag. Don't talk to me about stupid, have fun getting 250 frames per second while you can see about 60 fps. I didn't buy this as a gaming computer. You know, because I have friends and do actual fun things. I was making the comparison because everyone seems to think it's impossible to play anything on a Mac.
@TurkishStyles52 I think there is a little box thing you can buy that will make it usable as a monitor. I know you can use that box to play xbox or PS3 on it.
Good hit on the resolution, 2560 x 1440 screen is legit for editing and screen space. Well done regarding Windows 7 + Mac OS X. Nicely done, great review sir :). I'd recommend buying ram from macsales.com (OWC), I think it's around $50 for an extra 4 gigs of ram, 8gbs ram total.
@JRillan Thank you very much! I was very unprepared for this....I should have had notes written down. But I'm gonna throw this out there, I friggin love you for showing me that website. That's amazing. I'm literally going to put an extra 8 gigs in this...
@800hennessy Hehe :), no problem! Just remember, there's a total of 4 memory slots and apple uses the first 2. We own two owc Qx2 enclosures. My father runs 24gb of owc ram in his Mac Pro (overkill, imo). I'm personally happy with 8 gbs total. They're cheap so its your choice. Let us know how it goes :).
@JRillan After going to the website I've decided I'm going to do the 4X4 16 gig upgrade for $140ish. And I will be reposting a video to show the difference. It's probably going to be a little while though lol. I need many new things before that....hahah.
@christosd98 Aren't they! I literally have no complaints at all with this computer. I just wish I'd opted for the 2 gig graphics card, but that was my fault.
not bad for your first review there bud. curious though. do you use the trackpad or did you choose the magic mouse. me personally.. I can't stand the magic mouse. trackpad ftw except if i'm jamming on starcraft II. keep on rocking in the free world
@chronofusion Hey man, to be honest I couldn't tell you on the Ethernet. I would think it's Intel honestly but I'm not positive. And istat nano is pretty cool. The guy in the apple store told me about it when I picked the computer up. It's pretty handy. And thanks about the review compliment, next time I'll have a script and a tripod lol. I love the magic mouse man. It makes life sooo good. I really like the track pad also but I don't have one. I can't use the magic mouse in auto cad though!
and exact rez is 2560x1440 ( aka 16:9 ) and what i would call HYPER hd :D 16:10 would be 2560x1600 which is the absolute MAX that any gaming video card can max out on. and wierd..about your WEI. i thought the sandy bridge intel 3.4ghz quad core would get slightly higher than my 6 core phenom II am3 3.2ghz cpu. i have the same rating except a sata II mushkin callisto deluxe 240gb ssd rated at 7.7. all good. I know the sandy bridge is better for my needs as im saving.

@800hennessy goto Crucial.com. I bought 16Gbs of RAM for $102.00. I ended up saving $540 off of Apple's ridiculous markup.
