i guess you don't know how its made. if you have a little eye for vfx you see alot of technical problems with this clip. the building being shattered is looking good but the other effects definately need more work.
@123battlefield123 It is indeed a good try, but according to your first post it was awesome, so you lied. Anyway I am working on a project when it is finished I will show you what some real vfx are.
@MarkReijrink The Awsome part was rayfire in 3ds max. that was what I was here for. the use of it composed with video recording didnt turn out the best
Good effects but a meteor of that size would have burnt up in the earths atmosphere and if it didnt manage to hit earth the 'guy' with the camera would have been incinerated instantly.
dude! thats in st paul's bay!!!! I lived there to ! we have the same hobby haha.. i think it's quite good.. what i would suggest is key in sound water splashes (you will find many of these on the internet) and work maybe on adding more detail during the actual explosion.. this may sound like too much work but. rather than making the 'pile' of exploding rubble.. actually start from the basic shape of the tower and blow it up from there...
not bad. the debris is good, but it wouldn't all go "up" from the meteor's angle.
1. Work on the meteor itself (because it looks... well, bad)
2. Adjust the debris
3. Make the water react (I read the description; I don't use 3ds Max, but I'm guessing you can use fluids and, if so, set one up in the position of the ocean and have the debris collide with it)
4. I'm guessing you watched Video Copilot's series on this?

not bad, take more time working on the motion tracking though, and the details of the meteor.

Less chunks, more dust clouds and more directional dust clouds.

RealFlow would work very well for the splashes.
And it works seamlessly with max.
A bit pricey....but well worth it!
IMO Rayfire and RealFlow are the 2 best plugins for max....and Afterburn of course.
